As a die-hard Marvel fan who has spent countless hours rewatching and analyzing every single detail of the Infinity Saga, I must say that attending this concert was nothing short of breathtaking! The way they paid tribute to Black Widow, one of my all-time favorite characters, left me with a lump in my throat. It’s not often that we get to relive those poignant moments from the MCU on such a grand scale.
Just like numerous Marvel enthusiasts, I can’t forget the thrill of watching both “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame” in the cinema. If you watched these two Marvel films sequentially, I’m sure you shared a similar experience with me – it felt more like an unforgettable event than any other movie-watching experience during my lifetime. Witnessing how the numerous plotlines established over ten years unfolded into a fitting and, in a way, Shakespearean conclusion left me utterly amazed.
I had the privilege of being part of the crowd that witnessed a retrospective of the Infinity Saga, with over 15,000 fans, an event that’s now etched in my memory. For the first time ever, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) teamed up with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a concert spanning two nights. This unique experience has significantly added to my admiration for the MCU’s impressive history. The evening was filled with memorable moments, and I can’t wait to share some of the highlights from this music-infused event.
The Night Began With The Marvel Studios Theme Being Performed Live, And I Was Nerding Out
The event kicked off as Marvel’s head honcho, Kevin Feige, made his way onto the stage, where he ceremoniously handed Gustavo Dudamel, the esteemed conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, a special “vibranium” baton to conduct throughout the two and a half hour live spectacle. Notably, the harp on stage was adorned with the striking colors of Iron Man!
From thereon, our adventure began as we were treated to a real-life rendition of the “Marvel Studios Theme,” a tune familiar from the start of MCU films and series. This performance breathed fresh life into the melody, making it even more captivating. The opening sequence of any future Marvel productions I watch will now carry an entirely new impact due to this unforgettable experience.

I Was Bursting With Nostalgia Over The Formation Of The Avengers
After starting with the initial “Iron Man” movie, the series progressed to the groundbreaking first “Avengers” film where the original team clashed to battle Loki. Remarkably, this movie was released over a decade ago. While that might seem like no time at all for some, as a 28-year-old, I found myself during the show recognizing that these characters have been gracing the big screen for more than half of my life now.
These movies, being integral not just to pop culture but also deeply embedded in our childhood and lifelong memories, held a unique charm. Witnessing the first flight of Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr., accompanied by a live orchestra playing the soundtrack, was truly magical. Similarly, it was thrilling to see Chris Evans’ Captain America experience his initial heroic moments before the concert crescendoed to “The Avengers Theme”. The audience, young and old, couldn’t help but express their delight with oohs and ahhs.

The Spider-Man Theme Got Me Super Emotional
It’s worth mentioning that the concert didn’t cover all 23 Marvel movies from the Infinity Saga. Instead, it bypassed the sequels of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Age of Ultron. However, it did offer brief but heartfelt tributes to characters like Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and Captain Marvel. Admittedly, I was okay with this oversight because my favorite MCU character, Spider-Man played by Tom Holland, received a lot of attention. The score for Homecoming has always been one of my favorites, but hearing the other themes before it really made me appreciate why it’s so exceptional.
As a fan, I found this track softer and more profoundly moving than the others, with its rich use of strings that truly captured the unique humanity of Peter Parker among all the superheroes. The orchestra’s rendition of the Spidey segment brought tears to my eyes, especially since they included his iconic “Come On, Spider-Man!” moment from the end of Homecoming.

My Appreciation For Black Panther In The MCU Soared Into The Stars
During the performance, it struck me that the soundtrack for “Black Panther” might be the studio’s most impressive work in this genre, especially once they revealed that part of the concert. The music is unlike anything we’ve heard before and truly redefines what “epic superhero music” can feel like, as the movie scenes unfolded on the screen, I found myself deeply moved by it.
Additionally, an accomplished drummer specializing in speech-like rhythms joined the ensemble, significantly enhancing its performance. It’s hard to accept that Chadwick Boseman passed away four years ago, and I find it difficult to imagine anyone else filling his shoes – a topic that has been generating buzz online recently.

I Was Very Happy To See Black Widow Be Given A Tribute By The Orchestra
During the first part of the show, they presented each character from the beginning. In contrast, the latter half was dedicated to bidding farewell to the Infinity Saga, emphasizing memorable moments from “Infinity War” and “Endgame”. I’ll tell you more about that later, but let me share something unexpected I encountered at this concert: a tribute section for Black Widow!
For Marvel enthusiasts, Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, perishes in Endgame when she and Hawkeye are on Vormir to claim the Soul Stone. To be truthful, I can’t identify any piece of music that embodies Black Widow if you ask me, but I was deeply touched by the Hollywood Bowl concert dedicating an entire musical composition to her memory. It was genuinely stunning and poignant as it displayed scenes from her journey across the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Somehow, My Experience With The Infinity War And Endgame Battles Got Elevated
The interactive nature of the event was something I hadn’t discussed before. It wasn’t just a regular movie screening accompanied by some gadgets; it offered much more! For example, each member of the large audience was provided with light-up bracelets that synchronized with the unfolding scenes on the screen. Additionally, there were projections around the historic stadium’s edge and lights spread across the stage that mirrored the displayed scenes in real-time.
Throughout the entire performance, there was an exceptional level of impact, particularly during the iconic battles in “Infinity War” and “Endgame.” As Thanos gathered the Infinity Stones, a visual representation on the bowl’s edge indicated which stones he had already obtained. This detail significantly heightened the emotional resonance of the scene where Thanos plucked the Mind Stone from Vision, resulting in half the universe disintegrating. I didn’t think anything could surpass my initial viewing of those films, but this concert managed to make every moment feel more intense and impactful!

Plus, Michael Giacchino Surprised The Audience With His Brilliant Fantastic Four Theme
The performance concluded with a heartwarming firework spectacle honoring every Avenger and reminding me of my initial viewing of Endgame. However, in true Marvel style, there was a post-show segment following the display. To the delight of many, composer Michael Giacchino unexpectedly appeared on stage to persuade some audience members who were about to depart, asking if they could spare just four additional minutes. Interestingly, he announced that he would have the orchestra perform a sneak peek of next summer’s Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ theme. Although it was previously played at D23, hearing the piece live had me more eager for one of 2025’s movies than I thought possible.
The melody had a thoroughly futuristic, grandiose, and lively quality that hinted at an exciting and alien experience compared to previous MCU films. As I listened, it seemed as though the movie was going to be incredibly enjoyable and unlike any other MCU productions we’ve encountered thus far. During the performance, I experienced a wave of nostalgia, but the finale left me with a sense of optimism for what lies ahead in the Multiverse Saga!
Over time, Marvel has created numerous iconic themes throughout their franchise, yet none have been showcased quite like this unique occasion. I sincerely hope that the Infinity Saga Concert Experience isn’t limited to just these two performances, as it truly left a lasting impression!
