I’m A Huge James Bond Fan And Hearing Halle Berry Gush About Pierce Brosnan Just Made My Day

As a long-time Bond enthusiast and admirer of Halle Berry’s exceptional talent, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon learning about her fond memories working with Pierce Brosnan on Die Another Day. The thought that this 2002 blockbuster, which I once considered a blotch in the Bond franchise, has somehow managed to gain a new lease on life through such heartwarming anecdotes is quite remarkable.

2024 is shaping up to be exciting for fans of Halle Berry, who has two upcoming movies that promise to captivate audiences. Meanwhile, Berry’s fanbase also cherishes her past roles, particularly her time in the James Bond series. As a lover of both James Bond and Halle Berry’s talent, hearing her express enthusiasm about working with Pierce Brosnan made my day even better.

In an interview segment called Autocorrect, found on Wired’s YouTube channel, the lead actress from Netflix’s The Union addressed some popular internet queries. When asked about which James Bond movie she appeared in, Halle Berry provided this answer:

As a gamer, let me tell you, nothing beats the charm of Die Another Day with the one and only Pierce Brosnan as Bond. He’s my guy, always has been and always will be. I’m a die-hard fan of Pierce Brosnan, and that movie restored my faith in men. There simply isn’t another human being who embodies the epitome of a gentleman like Pierce Brosnan does.

As a long-time fan, I never imagined I’d express this, given the 22 years that marked the end of Pierce Brosnan’s tenure as James Bond. However, with stories surfacing about the production of “Die Another Day”, the finale of Brosnan’s run appears to be gaining more respect as time passes by.

To clarify, despite the film’s continued chaos and numerous aspects that don’t quite gel, my revised perspective on this Bond installment as a quirky, entertaining ride within the 007 series no longer bothers me as much as it once did during my early Bond fandom years. In fact, with the passage of time, I find myself better able to acknowledge the film’s strengths that were previously overshadowed by its shortcomings.

Stories such as these, or those recounted by director Lee Tamahori in his James Bond reminiscences, have significantly altered my perspective towards this film that was heavily criticized upon its initial release. These sentiments grow even stronger as Halle Berry continues to ponder her role in the Die Another Day chapter of the Bond saga.

Furthermore, you’ll notice from her subsequent comments, taking on the role of Giacinta “Jinx” Johnson wasn’t initially something she had planned, but it turned out to be quite fulfilling.

Initially, Bond wasn’t someone I aspired to portray, quite the contrary, I wanted to watch from afar. However, I’ve always been a fan of the films. Now that I’ve played him, it feels like I’m etched into the tapestry of cinematic lore. These movies are legendary, they’re an indelible part of our cultural history. Being a part of such a renowned franchise, particularly alongside Pierce, is truly an honor.

Currently, I find myself echoing Halle Berry’s sense of frustration as her 007 spinoff gets canceled yet again. This is particularly disheartening given that the script for Jinx was already completed, requiring mainly fine-tuning and adjustments to take flight. The reboot of the franchise with Casino Royale in 2006 went smoothly, but think about how simpler it could have been if Halle Berry had been permitted to continue the action between movies.

If you’re in the market for some fresh spy action featuring Ms. Berry, you’re in luck! As of now, “The Union” is available on Netflix for subscribers, offering a generous dose of action and humor. Personally, I think there’s still time to dust off that “Jinx” script and come up with something thrilling using it.
