As a gamer who has witnessed the rollercoaster ride of the entertainment industry for years, I can’t help but feel a sense of deja vu when reading about yet another high-profile figure embroiled in controversy. The saga of Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group seems to be a never-ending tale of intrigue and scandal, with names like Sean “Diddy” Combs, Britney Spears, and Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones popping up more frequently than my high score on my favorite arcade game.
once more under the limelight, Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group, renowned celebrity management firm, is back in discussions due to its association with Sean “Diddy” Combs. As the hip-hop magnate currently detained by federal authorities battles allegations of sex-trafficking and racketeering, scrutiny has been renewed.
Music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a lawsuit against Combs in February, alleging that Combs’ inappropriate behavior was facilitated by a group of associates. One of these associates, Robin Greenhill, the accountant, was said to have arranged financial transactions such as wiring funds, transfers, or cash payments to sex workers. Greenhill, who holds a position at Tri Star, has not yet commented on this matter when approached by The Hollywood Reporter.
The civil lawsuit foreshadowed the accusations made by the Department of Justice in their September 17th indictment; however, Tri Star was not implicated in that particular indictment.
In her top-selling 2023 memoir titled “The Woman in Me“, Spears referred to Greenhill as Lou Taylor, Tri Star’s boss, as a “quirky assistant” and lumped both women together with her disliked father under the label of “tormentors.” The pop star penned, “I longed for them to be removed from my existence.
2021 saw The New York Times bring light on Tri Star’s doubtful dealings regarding me, Britney Spears. The articles detailed how, as per a court investigator’s report, Lou Anne Greenhill had control over my credit card and managed my medications. It also disclosed the allegation that a security firm was hired by Tri Star, at my expense, to track my phone, secretly record me in my room, and spy on the “Free Britney” advocates aiming to unveil the management company’s operations. The newspaper reported that screenshots of my text messages were shared with Ms. Greenhill.
Back in 2019, I, a gamer, shared my base between Nashville and Los Angeles with Tri Star Entertainment. In an interview with THR, I mentioned some of my high-profile clients like Priyanka Chopra Jones, Mary J. Blige, Reba McEntire, the lead singer of Aerosmith, Steven Tyler, Florida Georgia Line, and Sean Combs – a name I first met back in the early 90s when he was an intern at Uptown Records while I was managing talent at another firm. (Over the years, my roster has also included Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, and several members of the Kardashian family.)
The bail proposal put forward by Combs, which was turned down by the magistrate judge, would have been backed by the equity in his luxury residence located on the prestigious Star Island in Miami’s Biscayne Bay. On September 18, his legal team informed the court that the property was appraised at $48 million, referencing a 2022 valuation conducted by Tri Star.
Tri Star did not respond to queries from THR regarding several topics, such as if they continue to work with Combs, or if they have encountered any contact from law enforcement officers linked to the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings against him.
