It Ain’t Big Bang Theory Money, But The Abbott Elementary Cast Just Scored A Big Raise

As a long-time gamer who’s spent countless hours binge-watching sitcoms and dreaming of being part of a successful TV show, I can’t help but feel a tinge of envy towards the cast of Abbott Elementary. With their recent pay raise, they’re one step closer to joining the ranks of the Big Bang Theory and Friends cast members who made millions per episode.

With the fourth season of “Abbott Elementary” set to air in 2024, there’s plenty for the show to boast about. Not only did they shine on the red carpet at the 2024 Emmy Awards with numerous Season 3 nominations, but this fall, the ABC comedy will reach its 50th episode – a significant achievement for any sitcom. Yet, amid all the praise and milestones, the cast has recently secured a substantial pay increase. Although it’s not on par with the earnings of “Big Bang Theory,” it’s undeniably impressive.

What Salaries Were Like For The Big Bang Theory And Other Casts

In the year 2018, Forbes magazine revealed that Jim Parsons, renowned for his role in Big Bang Theory, was the highest-earning TV actor, raking in an astounding $26.5 million. Following closely were his co-stars Johnny Galecki ($25 million), Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg (each earning $23.5 million). The top 10 television actors were all making more than $10 million a few years back, which is truly remarkable.

The show could potentially earn a substantial sum, not only from its initial broadcast but also through repeat airings and online streaming platforms, since it remains popular in syndication and on-demand services.

In their later seasons, the Friends cast earned approximately $1 million per episode, and they continue to receive around $20 million annually from rerun royalties.

The earnings of Tom Selleck on “Blue Bloods” are just as notable, with him pocketing an astounding $56 million over the course of the series’ entire duration.

As a gamer, I can tell you that when games become hits, the rewards are substantial. Although Abbott isn’t there quite yet, their recent pay bump could be a hint that they might be on their way to joining the big leagues.

What The Abbott Elementary Cast Is Making

According to Deadline, the actors from the show “Abbott Elementary” are getting substantial pay raises ahead of its fourth season.

According to reports, Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, and Chris Perfetti have successfully renegotiated their contracts with Warner Bros. Television, securing significant salary increases. Notably, Brunson, the show’s creator, executive producer, and writer, will earn between $350,000 and $400,000 per episode, while Williams and Ralph are set to receive $250,000 each.

In the upcoming season, James, Walter, and Perfetti will earn $2 million each. However, William Stanford Davis, who became a series regular in Season 2, won’t see the same salary boost as his co-stars. Nevertheless, he is still set to receive an impressive raise of up to $100,000 per episode. This recent news underscores the significant increase in their salaries, especially considering that just a year ago, Davis disclosed his residuals during the strikes, which were practically negligible, thus highlighting the magnitude of these raises.

The television show’s ongoing run may lead to a consistent rise in their earnings annually, and who knows, they might even amass the astronomical sums that “Big Bang”-level salaries represent one day.

To understand why this cast received such significant pay increases, make sure to catch Season 4 of the show “Abbott Elementary” when it debuts on ABC’s television lineup on October 9, 2024.
