Jaat star Sunny Deol spills beans about his upcoming OTT projects: ‘they are not meant for…’

Sunny Deol shattered numerous benchmarks with the blockbuster hit, Gadar 2. His devoted audience eagerly anticipates another breathtaking act by the seasoned Bollywood performer in his upcoming action-thriller, Jaat. As we countdown to Gopichandh Malineni’s first Hindi movie release in theaters on April 10, 2025, Deol shared that he has several streaming projects lined up in addition to Jaat.

When speaking with PTI, Sunny Deol shared details about his upcoming ventures that will be available only on streaming services. The seasoned actor, aged 67, revealed, “I’m working on a couple of projects for OTT platforms, as the audience for these productions is specialized and not typically found in movie theaters. Consequently, it makes more sense to distribute them through online streaming.” He added that viewers continue to enjoy watching movies across various digital platforms.

He also shared with the news outlet that Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms are an intriguing medium for actors and filmmakers due to their wide range of options and lack of restrictions. Despite anticipating new roles in upcoming ventures, Deol acknowledged that it hinges on whether a writer or director presents him with something distinctive.

Moving forward, he divulged how streaming services have played a pivotal role in keeping me, an iconic figure like myself, pertinent among the youth. As I weighed in on this topic, I couldn’t help but reflect on the fact that my films found a new lease of life on these digital platforms, reaching those who might not have had the chance to witness my artistry on the silver screen, and making me resonate with today’s generation.

Regarding his upcoming film titled Jaat, the actor shared that collaborating with South filmmaker Gopichand Malineni was an exciting change of pace. He also mentioned that he found the process enjoyable since the project is original rather than a remake. Expressing his feelings, Sunny said, “I’m thrilled to be working with a Southern director for the first time, and I must say, it’s been an enriching experience.

Sunny Deol boasts a compelling list of upcoming films. Next up for him is Rajkumar Santoshi’s period action movie titled Lahore 1947. This film, supported by Aamir Khan, additionally stars Preity Zinta. Moreover, Sunny will collaborate with Varun Dhawan in Border 2, a sequel to his 1997 production, Border.
