In the unique collaboration named “Namecaps: Spaceman“, artists Jahan Loh and Josh Franklin (STASH) merge the realms of graffiti and modern art. This groundbreaking exhibition debuts at Central Chidlom, delving into the metamorphosis of graffiti, tracing its roots from the gritty streets of New York to its far-reaching impact, notably in Asia.
Namecaps: Space Explorer – a project in partnership with ArtCEO – delves into the development of graffiti art over space and time, utilizing the 12-hour time gap between Brooklyn and Singapore as a symbolic focal point. This contrast offers a thematic perspective, highlighting graffiti’s universal communication method and its ability to surpass cultural and geographical limitations.
By blending their shared artistic perspective, Jahan and Stash breathe authentic street art vibes into the project “Namecaps: Spaceman“, taking it beyond traditional boundaries to explore innovative realms such as canvas and merchandise. This exhibition underscores graffiti’s continuous evolution into a universal narrative tool, mirroring concepts of defiance, invention, and cultural interplay.
The grand debut is scheduled for January 10th, starting at 6:00 pm and ending at 8:30 pm. This event promises a variety of unique pieces, including original works, prints, exclusive sculptures, collectibles, merchandise, and more, all available for purchase. It’s worth mentioning that fans of Jahan will have an opportunity to acquire artworks from his “COSMIC DREAMING” exhibition. For those who can’t attend the opening night, the exhibition will continue to be on display until March 4th.
