The comedian’s candid narration of his April 2023 medical emergency, interspersed with his trademark humor and impressions, makes for a captivating viewing experience.
Instead of settling for the typical holiday-themed content, a standout streaming choice this week is not one of the numerous Christmas movies flooding the season, but rather an emotionally intense stand-up performance by Jamie Foxx, who affectionately refers to himself as “Jamie Motherfuckin’ Foxx” throughout. For those with a Netflix subscription, it’s highly recommended to stream the new special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was to listen to the comedian’s real-life account of his April 2023 medical emergency.
Not only does this feature numerous amusing asides and spontaneous comments, but since it’s Jamie Foxx, you can expect that. Interestingly, even amidst a typically emotional narrative, he unexpectedly included a swift jab at the currently incarcerated music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. The In Living Color alum did not disappoint!
Foxx revealed that a brain hemorrhage caused his hospitalization due to a headache and stroke, resulting in 20 days of memory loss. He also mentioned his sister’s actions leading up to his surgery, and referenced the former rapper dealing with sexual assault accusations during this time.
I often repeat this statement. I noticed a tunnel. However, I didn’t spot any light. Despite that, I felt as though I were in a tunnel. It was quite warm in there. Suddenly, I wondered if I was heading to the wrong destination in this place, thinking to myself, “This can’t be right, could it?” As I glanced at the end of the tunnel, I thought I spotted someone who resembled the devil, but I couldn’t be sure if it was just Puffy.
It’s no wonder that remark elicited a good deal of surprised chuckles from everyone present. Notably, the news surrounding Diddy was quite fresh then, with reports of large quantities of baby oil discovered on Combs’ property surfacing merely two weeks before Foxx taped his special (which was recorded on October 5 at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, GA).
Foxx doubled down slightly after the laughs, saying:

During the special, Foxx also mentioned Diddy at a later point, addressing the strange gossip surrounding him being cloned – speculations that perhaps Diddy was involved if he wasn’t his usual jovial and cheerful self.
