Jason Momoa’s Lobo Look Blocked, Jack Black Wants Cameo

Among all the video game adaptations scheduled for release in 2025 and beyond, only one features an actor who recently signed on with James Gunn’s DCU to play the alien bounty hunter Lobo – that’s Jason Momoa. Before riding Lobo’s motorcycle through Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Momoa will first appear in the block-filled, semi-animated comedy, A Minecraft Movie. However, fans are curious about how he will be portrayed as Lobo.

Although James Gunn had indicated fans would need to wait for a complete reveal of Momoa’s Lobo, there was almost a sneak peek during an unusual interview with Jeff McCobb, featuring a Minecraft theme. However, the actor’s efforts to share glimpses from the upcoming DCU superhero movie were abruptly halted in a humorous and disappointing fashion by his publicist. You can watch the video of that moment below, which also sparked Jack Black’s curiosity about starring in his own comic book appearance.

Regarding the appearance of the DC villain Lobo, we inquired about Jason Momoa’s look, specifically how much white makeup would be visible compared to the character’s armor. Momoa, who starred in Game of Thrones, responded by saying that he is almost completely covered from head to toe. To provide visual proof of his portrayal, he stood up to show us pictures on his phone.

Unfortunately, just as Jason Momoa was about to share the image with everyone in the room, his publicist stopped him from doing so. It was like finding out that the gifts under the Christmas tree aren’t for you after all.

It’s fortunate that Jack Black was present to offer some playful commentary as Momoa began searching for his phone. The comedian, who is a member of Tenacious D along with Momoa, seemed to enjoy himself immensely by pronouncing his co-star’s character name in a way that made it sound more like “Lao Bao” than “Low Bo”, with softer vowel sounds.

Since Jack Black was involved, he took advantage of the situation to ask about securing a minor role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow alongside stars like Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham.

I’m eagerly anticipating Loobooo. Hey, is it still possible for a brief appearance? Could you arrange a cameo for me in Louw-bowww? All I want is to utter “Lobo.

It seems Jack Black may not have been cast in “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” but there’s always a possibility he might appear somewhere else within the DC Universe, perhaps as part of Tenacious D’s adventures. Alternatively, he could show up in “School of Sgt. Rock” or even in a production like “Ju-super-manji.” I could imagine numerous other scenarios too.

I’m optimistic that the standalone film of Supergirl, scheduled to release in theaters on June 26, 2026, will prove worth the wait, regardless of whether or not Jack Black appears in it.
