Josh O’Connor Sundance Drama ‘Rebuilding’ Lands at Bleecker Street

The dramatic film titled “Rebuilding,” starring Josh O’Connor, which made its debut at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, has been acquired by Bleecker Street for American distribution.

The movie is directed by Max Walker-Silverman, who also features alongside Lily Latorre, Meghann Fahy, Kali Reis and Amy Madigan in the cast. Previously, Walker-Silverman collaborated with Bleecker on his previous film titled “A Love Song“.

In the movie “Rebuilding“, the main character, played by O’Connor, experiences the loss of his ranch due to a wildfire and shifts to residing in a FEMA camp. Here, he rekindles relationships with his daughter, ex-wife, and broader community.

In contrast to traditional ideas of rugged individualism, the movie Rebuilding proposes a collective concept of bravery and innovation as a means to progress without discarding history – an idea that resonates powerfully when one considers the remains of the past have been turned into ashes,” suggests The Hollywood Reporter’s review from Sundance, where the film was widely acclaimed.

The film was created by Jesse Hope, Dan Janvey, and Paul Mezey. Among the executive producers are Jan McAdoo, Jack McAdoo, Robina Riccitiello, Josh Peters, Sakurako Fisher, Douglas Choi, Alex C. Lo, Philipp Engelhorn, Bill Way, Elliott Whitton, Andrew Goldman, and O’Connor.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Bleecker Street has some exciting projects in the pipeline! One of them is a remake of the classic film, The Wedding Banquet, featuring the talented Bowen Yang and Lily Gladstone. Regarding the release date for Rebuilding, we’ll have to wait a bit longer as it hasn’t been announced yet. Can’t wait to see what they bring to the table!

In this arrangement, CAA acted as the intermediary for the filmmakers, while mk2 Films holds the global distribution rights for the movie.
