Julie Waters, Evan Dyal Launch Production and Finance Outfit Watermark Media

Seasoned executive Julie Waters and Evan Dyal recently established Watermark Media, a production and financing firm. Since its establishment in 2024, Watermark Media has been jointly funding and creating a series of five projects.

As a fervent admirer, I’d like to share some insights about my favorite projects from the innovative studio, Watermark. One of their standout productions is the Molly Gordon-led feature Oh, Hi!, which made its debut at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and was swiftly picked up by Sony Pictures Classics. Another captivating project from their repertoire is Joel Alfonso Vargas’ Made Bills to Pay, a film that initially premiered at Sundance before gracing the screens at the Berlin Film Festival.

Waters, an experienced executive with a lengthy tenure at Temple Hill Entertainment, was involved in producing the award-winning FX series “Dave” and contributed to the Hulu series “Love, Victor” and “The Other Black Girl”. Following her role overseeing film and television at Rachel Brosnahan’s Scrap Paper Pictures, she established Watermark. Dyal, with a background in real estate development, joined forces with Waters to create Watermark as well.

Alongside Waters and Dyal, the team includes Aaron Millberg as COO and partner, who manages business development and operations. Additionally, Lexi Kroll serves as a development executive. Prior to his role here, Millberg spent eight years at UTA, working in their endorsements division as a talent agent. He then moved on to become the head of creator and content commerce at an e-commerce company called Canal. As for Kroll, she began her career in the litigation department at Brillstein Entertainment before holding positions at Jonathan Levine’s production company Megamix and Scrap Paper Pictures.

Watermark Media stands on a base of innovation and inclusivity, and we are deeply dedicated to crafting culturally relevant, original, and multifaceted stories from emerging filmmakers, as stated by Waters and Dyal. We’re excited to introduce Oh, Hi! and Mad Bills to Pay, which pave the way for us, and we’re eager to make these films accessible globally while continuing our support for visionaries who are shaping the upcoming era of entertainment.
