Kate Beckinsale Shows Off Canary Black Wounds in ‘Worrying’ Social Media Post

As a long-time fan of Kate Beckinsale and her action-packed performances, I eagerly anticipated the release of “Canary Black” on Prime Video. Having followed her career since the Underworld franchise, I was confident that this film would deliver the same high-octane action I’ve come to expect from her.

The movie was premiered on Amazon Prime Video at the peak of their movie rankings on Friday, and since then, it has been displaying some rather gruesome injuries the actress acquired during filming the action-packed flick. This thriller has delved into a genre that remains consistently popular among viewers, captivating audiences with both fresh releases and revivals of movies from the past decade.

In her role as an action heroine in the Underworld series, Beckinsale has demonstrated her ability to carry such films. However, despite her star presence and stunt work, the film Canary Black, which is available for streaming, doesn’t seem to have fully satisfied its audience. Similar to other direct-to-streaming releases, the viewership numbers might be favorable to the point where executives at Amazon are pleased, but there’s a significant potential for lack of repeat viewers.

It’s undeniable that Keira Knightley is dedicated to her action roles, as evidenced by the photos she posted showing her bruised arms, fingers, numerous scrapes, and scratches – proof that she performed her own stunts in the film.

One of her admirers posted a comment under the update, expressing concern and well wishes, “ ‘I wish you all the best and hope you’re doing well. It’s clear you’re putting in a lot of effort, but please take care and stay safe.’” This sentiment was echoed frequently throughout the comments, as her supporters expressed their concern for the actress’s health following her injuries.

Is Canary Black Worth Watching?

As per Rotten Tomatoes reviews from both critics and audiences, Canary Black might not have been a box office hit if it had been released in theaters. But due to promotional emails and being featured prominently on the home page of Prime Video, the movie has attracted numerous viewers during its initial days on the platform.

Numerous reviews have highlighted a recurring criticism that the movie is unoriginal, describing it as a typical action thriller without bringing anything fresh to the table in a genre known for producing films with formulaic plots involving guns, explosions, and excessive, complicated action scenes. Moreover, the limited number of professional critic’s evaluations – all of which were “rotten” at the time of writing – have not been shy about pointing out flaws such as underdeveloped characters and a foreseeable storyline. Some critics even raised doubts whether the film could compensate for its weak narrative with its action sequences alone.

A review by The Wrap stated, ‘Canary Black appears to be an action film, yet it lacks the necessary excitement or emotional depth to classify as enjoyable entertainment.’

According to Brian Orndorf from Blu-ray.com, it seems that the idea of creating a potential franchise might be superfluous because the initial film doesn’t quite manage to get things right, even with plenty of chances to do so extravagantly. Consequently, any future franchise plans for Avery are not appealing.

Without a doubt, more supporters of Beckinsale and action films without deep thought will likely continue watching this in the coming days, but although some might find it enjoyable, most won’t hold onto it for too long once the end credits roll.
