As a long-time Marvel fan and follower of the development of their films, I’m thrilled to hear that Kevin Feige has confirmed that the upcoming “Blade” film with Mahershala Ali is likely to be rated R. This is music to my ears, as the original Blade films were known for their graphic violence and mature themes, which made them stand out from other superhero movies of the time.
In a recent conversation with BlackTree TV, Marvel’s leader Kevin Feige shared some new information about the upcoming Blade movie. Mahershala Ali signed on for the role back in 2019, but production hasn’t started yet. Sadly, the project experienced its second departure of directors and progress has been sluggish.
Although there have been no definite announcements, Feige has indicated that the upcoming Blade film is likely to receive an R rating, akin to Deadpool. When queried about Deadpool’s influence on the studio’s decision-making process, Feige replied, “I believe that’s accurate. You see, for the past two years, we have been working diligently to develop the new Blade film. Our priority is not to rush the project but rather create an authentic Blade movie. After all, earlier Blade films were R-rated and highly successful.” The search for a suitable director for the project continues, with no release date currently available.
