Kickboxer: Armageddon Set to Thrill Fans with Warner Bros. Home Release!

Kickboxer: Armageddon is ready to hit the ground running.

The newly released continuation of the revamped “Kickboxer” movie series has secured distribution by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment across the USA and Canada. This enduring martial arts film collection initially took off in 1989 with Jean-Claude Van Damme portraying Kurt Sloane, a role that garnered a passionate fanbase.

Dimitri Logothetis will direct the movie “Kickboxer: Armageddon,” a script he co-wrote with Jim McGrath. Filming is scheduled to start this coming spring, with Logothetis, Rob Hickman, and Joel Shapiro serving as producers. As of now, there’s no confirmed release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s been confirmed that Mark Dacascos will be part of the cast along with previously announced actors Alain Moussi and Scott Adkins.

Following the success of Van Damme’s initial movie, several sequels emerged in the 90s. However, it’s Logothetis who has played a significant role in reviving this franchise, with the reboot starting with “Kickboxer: Vengeance” in 2016 and followed by “Kickboxer: Retaliation” in 2018. Notably, Logothetis directed, co-wrote, and produced both films. Additionally, he directed Luke Hemsworth and Morgan Freeman in the movie “Gunner,” which was distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment last year.

In the remade Kickboxer series, Moussi now plays the main character, Kurt Sloane, the fighter, while Van Damme, who originally portrayed Kurt in the initial five films, appeared alongside as Master Durand in the last two installments.

The movie titled Kickboxer: Armageddon revolves around Kurt (Moussi) as he embarks on a mission to find and punish those responsible for his wife’s death. As he navigates through the clandestine fighting scene in Thailand, he encounters Cesare (Adkins), an expert martial artist who heads a cruel cult. Eventually, Kurt finds himself engaged in a battle that tests the limits of his strength.

2022 saw Jean-Claude Van Damme discussing with The Hollywood Reporter the lasting impact of the Kickboxer series. “Many people claim those films haven’t grown old,” he remarked then. “Perhaps I understand why. It’s about authenticity. If you genuinely embody your character and invest in your role, that – combined with the martial arts – allows viewers to overlook the less-than-stellar settings.
