Killer Heat Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Richard Madden and Shailene Woodley Gets Prime Video Release

As a cinephile with a penchant for gritty Mediterranean noir thrillers and a soft spot for star-studded casts, I can hardly contain my excitement for “Killer Heat”. Having followed the careers of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, and Richard Madden, it’s fascinating to see them come together in this project.

Following the cast announcement in April 2023 for “Killer Heat,” directed by Philippe Lacôte of “Night of the Kings” fame, there’s been a noticeable lack of buzz around the movie. However, recent updates suggest that the film, featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, and Richard Madden, is set to premiere on Amazon Studios on September 26.

The Mediterranean-set neo-noir thriller, based on Jo Nesbø’s 2021 short story “The Jealousy Man,” revolves around a troubled detective, portrayed by Gordon-Levitt, who goes by the moniker ‘The Jealousy Man.’ He’s delving into the captivating mystery of twin brothers (Madden) entangled in a vicious and gritty love triangle on the secluded Greek island of Crete. The script was penned by Roberto Bentivegna, who also worked on “House of Gucci,” with Matt Charman from “Bridge of Spies” providing revisions. As per Madden’s statement in an interview with Collider, the filming of this project commenced in April 2023. Earlier this year, Lacôte himself confirmed that the movie was completed and ready for release, which is now scheduled for the end of September.

If you’re familiar with Lacôte’s name, it might be from his movie “Night of the Kings,” which graced screens at prestigious film events like the Venice Film Festival and Rotterdam International Film Festival back in 2020. Later in 2021, Neon picked it up for global distribution. Originally titled “La Nuit de Rois,” this gripping fantasy-drama unfolds within one of the Ivory Coast’s most infamous prisons, weaving a brutal story about power hunger and survival of the fittest. This powerful feature earned several accolades, including the Amplify Voice award at the Toronto International Film Festival 2020 and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding International Motion Picture in 2021. As a gamer, I’d say it’s a must-watch for those who enjoy a captivating narrative with a raw, gritty edge.

Who Stars in Killer Heat?

As a devoted gamer, I’ve been captivated by Richard Madden’s journey to stardom. Known for his heart-wrenching portrayal of Robb Stark in the epic series, Game of Thrones, he later took on diverse roles that catapulted him into global recognition. Among these are his award-winning performance in Bodyguard (Golden Globe Award for Best Actor In A TV Series – Drama), his spellbinding work in Eternals, Rocketman, 1917, and the upcoming Citadel.

Known primarily for his performances in “Inception” and “Looper,” as well as winning a SAG and Emmy Award, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has also starred in John Carney’s film “Flora and Son” and Rian Johnson’s acclaimed TV series “Poker Face.” Before teaming up with Eddie Murphy in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley,” he did so. In this project, Gordon-Levitt not only plays the lead detective but also serves as an executive producer, alongside Jo Nesbø, Tom Karnowski, Niclas Salomonsson, and Collin Creighton from Makeready.
