L.A. Rams Playoff Game to Mark Catastrophic Fires With NFL Vet Andrew Whitworth, Rachel Platten

In the wake of the devastating wildfires sweeping across Los Angeles County, many people who are part of major events within the city find themselves pondering the same question: What should be the next course of action, considering the current situation?

The National Football League (NFL) made a change last Thursday by relocating a prearranged playoff match between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings from Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium to Arizona, due to ongoing fires in the area. The game will commence shortly at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, and representatives from the Rams have shared with The Hollywood Reporter how the current crisis might impact the event.

To begin with, former Rams star and Super Bowl champion Andrew Whitworth, who played five years for the team following 11 years with the Cincinnati Bengals, will speak directly to the audience live from State Farm Stadium, delivering a unique message to Los Angeles. Subsequently, singer Rachel Platten will take center stage on the field, performing her inspirational song “Fight Song.” As she sings, a massive 200-foot banner reading “L.A. Together” will descend onto the sideline as a backdrop for her performance, just before player introductions. Platten will also sing the National Anthem, and both performances will be aired live. (The game can be watched on ESPN, ABC, ESPN+, ESPN Deportes, and locally on ABC7.)

On the sidelines, there will be a tribute to first responders with special gear. The Rams team, coaches, and staff will don custom Los Angeles Fire Department shirts and hats emblazoned with the L.A. Rams logo. These unique items will be up for sale at State Farm Stadium and online, with all earnings going towards the LAFD Foundation and American Red Cross. Additionally, Rams insiders have given fire base camps in Los Angeles Rams-branded “L.A. Together” shirts as a token of support.

As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled about these special features:
– Exciting game-used jerseys and selected footballs from the match will be auctioned off on NFL Auction, with the earnings going towards the American Red Cross;
– In a remarkable show of solidarity, half of the 50/50 Raffle proceeds (usually benefiting the Los Angeles Rams Foundation) will be donated to the LAFD Foundation and the American Red Cross;
– The Arizona Cardinals Flag Crew, along with our beloved mascot Rampage, will join forces to run onto the field waving “L.A. Together” flags;
– Inspiring “Thank You Firefighters and First Responders” banners will adorn the South end zone;
– And at concession stands, fans like myself have the chance to contribute $5, $10, or $20 to support the American Red Cross.

In addition to gaming updates, L.A.’s renowned rapper Xzibit is set to take the stage during half time, sharing it with the Rams cheerleading squad. Meanwhile, Warren G has been scheduled for an exciting third-quarter live act.

The primary concern for the Rams is ensuring the safety of the Los Angeles community, especially during these challenging times when fires are causing distress. They express their sympathy towards everyone impacted by these fires. The Rams also want to acknowledge and thank the dedicated first responders who are working tirelessly to safeguard our city and community, as well as individuals who are going above and beyond to assist neighbors in need.
