Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, and Teyana Taylor graced the stage at CinemaCon for a chat about “One Battle After Another,” an upcoming blockbuster movie directed by filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.
During Warner Bros.’ presentation, Leonardo DiCaprio praised Paul Anderson following their initial collaboration on a film project. “For more than twenty years, I’ve been yearning to work with Paul,” the actor declared. “He is truly one of the most extraordinary and distinctive talents of our era.”
Or, in a more conversational tone:
After teaming up for their first project at Warner Bros., Leonardo DiCaprio applauded Paul Anderson during the presentation. He shared that he’s been eager to work with him for over 20 years now. “Paul is undeniably one of the most remarkable and gifted artists of our time,” the star said.
DiCaprio stated, “This movie strikes a chord politically and culturally that resonates deeply within us.” The actor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to “freely explore and develop our individual characters.” He further praised the director, saying “his way of working with actors is exceptional, unparalleled.
Hall added, “What was so incredible was how collaborative the process was.”
Taylor discussed her character’s traits, stating, “She’s quite disorganized, but there’s one thing that stands out: she loves deeply.” The actress also commented that her character “isn’t particularly endearing. She has quite a few complications.
Warner Bros. subsequently shared unrevealed video clips, among them a heated phone call scene featuring DiCaprio’s character. In the snippet, his character is heard saying, “I have a strong affection for drugs and alcohol,” followed by a threat: “I will track you down and plant a loaded stick of dynamite in your rear end.
On September 26th, Warner Bros. will be premiering a darkly humorous film in cinemas. The main actors in this production are Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and Chase Infiniti.
United by Their Past follows a band of ex-revolutionaries as they join forces once more, this time to assist Bob Ferguson (DiCaprio) in locating his missing child.
Anderson not only wrote the screenplay for this movie, but he also directed it. Additionally, he co-produced the film with Sara Murphy and Adam Somner.
Previously, it was reported that the film “One Battle After Another” is believed to be an examination of Thomas Pynchon’s novel “Vineland” and has a budget exceeding $130 million. The film’s release date was recently moved from August 8th to September 26th.
An earlier trailer features DiCaprio urging Del Toro, “I require your aid, my friend. Master, Master, Master, I beg you.” Del Toro then says, “Be brave, Bob. Be brave.” This leaves DiCaprio puzzled, as he responds, “That’s all? Brave. Well, alright then.
In the latest movie Anderson worked on, titled “Licorice Pizza” (released in 2021), garnered three Academy Award nominations, one of them being for Best Picture.
Each spring, CinemaCon – an annual gathering for movie exhibitors and studio representatives – takes place, with this year’s event occurring from March 31st through April 3rd. The convention is organized by Cinema United, previously known as the National Association of Theatre Owners.
