As a gamer with a deep appreciation for music and social justice, I find myself deeply moved by Linda Ronstadt‘s powerful stance against Donald Trump and her passionate endorsement of Kamala Harris. Growing up in Tucson, Arizona, I remember the joyful spirit that Ronstadt’s hometown exuded, a spirit that seemed to resonate with the deep Mexican-American roots she mentions.
Linda Ronstadt publicly supports Kamala Harris and criticizes Donald Trump’s planned event at the Linda Ronstadt Musical Center in Tucson, Arizona.
On Wednesday evening, the artist known as “Blue Bayou” posted a statement on Instagram, saying: “Tomorrow, Donald Trump is holding a rally in Tucson, a town I call home and where a building bears my name. I’d rather not acknowledge this unfortunate event. However, since it’s my building, I feel compelled to express something about it.
It’s disheartening to witness the ex-President performing his divisive act in Tucson, a city rich with Mexican-American heritage and a place known for its welcoming and inclusive nature,” she went on. Ronstadt elaborated that she not only despises his dangerous politics, his prejudice against women, immigrants, and people of color, his criminal actions, deceit, and lack of knowledge – but there’s certainly all that.” (paraphrased)
In essence, here’s my view: Under the Trump Administration, families trying to seek asylum at Nogales and along the southern border were deliberately torn apart. This ‘family separation’ policy left thousands of children and infants as orphans, causing immense suffering for their distraught parents. This situation was labeled a humanitarian disaster by Physicians for Human Rights, even meeting the standards for torture. The pain he caused cannot be excused or erased.

The multiple Grammy-winning artist concluded her reflections on the ex-president with a sharp comment, saying, “Initially, Trump ran for presidency by cautioning about potential rapists crossing from Mexico. Now, I’m concerned about preventing such individuals from entering the White House.
In her message, she noted, “P.S. J.D. Vance,” sharing that she raised two adopted children in Tucson as a single mother, and now they’ve grown and moved out on their own. She resides with a cat currently. Some may label her as ‘half a childless cat lady’ due to being unmarried and not biologically related to her kids. Regardless of the labels, she is proudly casting her vote for @kamalaharris and @timwalz in November, posing with her beloved pet in a photo accompanying her statement.
As a gamer, I’m not alone in expressing my support for Kamala Harris. Like Linda Ronstadt, I too have joined the ranks of vocal supporters, taking aim at Mike Vance’s questionable remarks about the U.S. being controlled by a group of childless cat ladies. Similar to Taylor Swift, I voiced my stance after the Harris-Trump debate on Tuesday. In fact, I ended my statement with a nod to my own ‘childless cat lady’ status, explaining why I’m casting my vote for Harris.
