Lokko is an upcoming mobile, PC and PS5 project from Sony’s India Hero Project

  • Lokko is a new creation from developer Appy Monkeys
  • This India-based developer created it in conjunction with Sony’s India Hero Project
  • Lokko offers cross-play with mobile, PC and PS5, and Dualshock features for all three

In terms of thriving development hubs, one region that’s not typically highlighted is India. However, from our perspective, we’ve frequently explored future projects such as Indus Battle Royale and pondered about its implications for Indian game development. It appears that the future may have arrived earlier than expected with the upcoming 3D platformer Lokko, suggesting a promising trajectory for the industry in India.

Lokko is a product that originated from Sony India’s Hero Project, an initiative that collaborates with Indian developers to prepare their upcoming successful releases. The creative minds behind Developer Appy Monkeys developed Lokko within this partnership. It’s a 3D game platform filled with level editors and advanced avatar creation tools. The main objective? Timely pizza delivery while battling against the monopolistic Goobol food corporation.

One intriguing aspect of this project lies in the versatility: Lokko not only functions across different platforms, but also supports cross-play collaboration. Additionally, it leverages the capabilities of Dualshock controllers consistently across all its variations.

It’s quite evident that Lokko encompasses the most popular elements from numerous contemporary success stories in gaming. This platform features character customization, level creation, and a low-poly visual style reminiscent of Roblox. Yet, it also leverages the power of PlayStation, providing a viable contender to the previously mentioned platform.

From a gameplay perspective, it doesn’t seem like Appy Monkeys are creating something completely new, but their work appears solid and I eagerly anticipate seeing more from the India Hero Project as well.

Although Lokko doesn’t have a definitive launch date yet [this year], feel free to explore another fantastic indie game, Dredge from Black Salt Games. This multi-platform game has recently been launched!
