A significant development unfolds in the tale of Monster Hunter World’s remarkable rise: One of its veteran producers has ascended within Capcom, the game’s publisher and developer, moving into a more prominent role in the company.
Effective April 1st, Ryozo Tsujimota, a long-time producer at Monster Hunter, will assume the role of Capcom’s Chief Product Officer overseeing development divisions, as announced by the corporation. Ryozo Tsujimota has been part of Capcom since 1996 and is the son of its founder and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto, as well as the younger brother of Capcom President and COO Haruhiro Tsujimota.
Ryozo Tsujimoto has been a dedicated advocate for the Monster Hunter series over the years, climbing up the production ladder within the team since his work on 2007’s Monster Hunter Freedom 2 as a progressively higher-ranking producer.
Ryozo Tsujimoto has consistently championed the popularization of the initially obscure Monster Hunter series, transforming it from a modest Japanese venture into Capcom’s most successful game franchise. Unlike his elder brother, he has chosen to stay immersed in the creative aspects of gaming development rather than delving into business-related matters.
In a 2008 interview with The Guardian, near the launch of Monster Hunter: World, he stated that while he was still engaged in gameplay elements, he wasn’t merely a figurehead.
Moving up to a higher perspective, it’s evident that the business sector of Capcom embraces Ryozo Tsujimoto’s concept of what makes a great game, given that it was during his leadership that Monster Hunter achieved global success.
Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rampage has set a record as their fastest-selling game, managing to sell over eight million units within the first three days of release.
