As a long-time Marvel fan who’s lived through the highs and lows of the ever-evolving Marvel Cinematic Universe, I must say that the new footage for Daredevil: Born Again has me buzzing with anticipation. After years of waiting and worrying about creative changes, seeing the familiar faces of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk in a diner conversation felt like reuniting with old friends.
Among the numerous Marvel TV shows set to premiere soon, none is as eagerly awaited as the much-delayed Daredevil: Born Again. This series serves as a follow-up to the critically acclaimed Netflix version and will pick up Matt Murdock’s storyline, focusing on his ongoing battle against crime, particularly his confrontations with Wilson Fisk. Notably, Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and other original cast members are returning to their roles. Initially, I was cautiously optimistic about the show, but my apprehensions have lessened after viewing recent clips.
What’s Shown In The Official Daredevil: Born Again Footage?
Marvel Studios has shared an enticing preview featuring snippets from upcoming series like Ironheart, What If…? Season 3, and Wonder Man. The main focus of this teaser trailer, though, is the eagerly awaited Daredevil: Born Again, as evidenced by numerous action sequences of the lead character in the video provided. Additionally, fans get brief glimpses of other popular characters such as Wilson Fisk (also known as Kingpin), Frank Castle/The Punisher, played once again by Jon Bernthal, and the malevolent Muse.
What I find particularly exciting is a brief exchange between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, a conversation years in the making. In this scene, they meet up at a diner, where Matt brings up Fisk’s apparent return to power. This prompts Fisk to speculate that Matt’s “darker side” might not be too pleased with this turn of events, which causes them both to chuckle. It’s indeed enjoyable to witness their reunion, but it’s not the primary reason for my excitement. Instead, it’s the complexity and tension in their interaction that has me eager.
What Concern Did I Have About Born Again, And How Was It Eased?
People who have been keeping track of the development of the series “Born Again” might notice the significant shifts it has experienced. In late 2023, it was revealed that Marvel’s Kevin Feige and his team weren’t satisfied with the initial scripts and visuals, leading to a substantial revamp. Veteran writer Dario Scardapane was then brought on board as showrunner. Actors Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have also mentioned their efforts to steer the series back on track. Given these numerous alterations, I must admit I’m concerned that the show might lack cohesion visually and not align with the aesthetic of its original counterpart.
After watching the brief clip, I’m thoroughly convinced that the team behind this 2025 TV series has successfully captured the essence of the original show. Frankly, it feels remarkably similar, and given the limited footage we have, there appears to be a continuity in creativity. I can hardly wait for more glimpses into what promises to be an enthralling series.
Some might remain uncertain about the level of intensity the show could reach, but Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of TV and streaming, has made a strong statement. The Executive Producer likened the show to Game of Thrones, suggesting it’s a place filled with fear and violence where different entities compete for power. Although it may not be as graphic as Game of Thrones, this comparison piques my curiosity about what lies ahead.
The highly-anticipated revival of “Daredevil: Born Again” will debut on March 4, 2025, and to watch it, you’ll need a Disney+ subscription. With this subscription, you can also stream all three seasons of the original series.
