Microsoft Is Cutting 650 Jobs at Xbox Gaming Unit

The gaming industry is not just about pushing buttons and pulling levers; it’s about passion, creativity, and the shared experiences that bring us together.

Approximately 650 employees at Xbox’s game division are set to be let go as part of Microsoft‘s third round of layoffs this year, according to Bloomberg’s initial report. In the memo, Spencer said that the shuffling would serve to allow Microsoft Gaming to “organize our business for long term success.”

At the start of this year, Microsoft reduced its gaming workforce by almost 2,000 people, which accounted for about 8% of employees across Xbox and Activision Blizzard. In May, they closed down a number of studios, including Alpha Dog and Tango Gameworks.
