As a long-time fan of Mountain Research and an avid gamer with a soft spot for Japanese streetwear, I’m beyond excited about the label’s latest move. Last month, they dropped their “Little Summer Camp” collection that had me craving the outdoors, and now they’re back with a full-blown new design lead: Abe Masahiro.
Last month, Mountain Research, a Japanese label, prepared for summer with its latest “Little Summer Camp” collection. Designed for sunny moments outdoors, this line featured navy garment-dyed items such as a tee and matching shorts, in collaboration with MINE USA. Now, Mountain Research is advancing with the release of its complete new collection.
I’m really excited about Mountain Research’s latest collection, and it’s not just because of its extensive range. What truly sets it apart is the fact that it’s the first one led by our new design guru, Abe Masahiro. When Setsumasa founded Mountain Research in 2006, he wore both the hats of founder and design lead. However, for decades, Masahiro worked alongside Setsumasa as his design assistant. Now, with Masahiro taking the reins, the label has undergone a rebranding as “Mountain Research by A.M.” Yet, the ‘A.M.’ doesn’t represent Masahiro’s initials; instead, it symbolizes our new identity as “Anarcho Mountaineers.”
As a gamer who’s always on the lookout for new gear, I’m thrilled about the latest addition to the brand called “Waiting for the Sun.” This collection expands the horizons of the brand into apparel designed for outdoor adventures and hiking. Perfect for those chillier moments as we climb mountains or stroll down the street, the range is filled with a variety of options.
Check out the new collection displayed in the gallery above, scheduled for online release on July 26, coming up on Friday.
