NCIS: Hawai’i May Be Officially Over, But Vanessa Lachey Is Already Back On TV

As a long-time fan of both Vanessa Lachey and the NCIS franchise, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia whenever I see updates about my favorite TV personalities. The cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i was a tough blow, and while it’s great to see Vanessa back on our screens so soon, I can’t help but wonder if the show’s spirit will ever truly rest in peace.

Despite an ever-growing list of concluded and terminated TV series, the cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i at CBS remains a bitter pill to swallow for many viewers, given that it was primarily due to scheduling conflicts rather than low ratings or viewership issues. The procedural universe continues to expand with the upcoming spinoff NCIS: Origins, but sadly, there are no plans for any characters related to Jane Tennant’s family tree to make appearances. However, this doesn’t mean that Vanessa Lachey, a former cast member, has vanished from the spotlight.

In fact, Lachey is already back on the small screen for Fall TV less than six months after she was blindsided by her sunny CBS series being put to pasture, and the actress took to Instagram to spread the good word. While not an ensemble drama, the DWTS vet is back in the realm of reality TV for Season 7 of the streaming hit Love Is Blind.

With the quirky dating concept back for its second new season within Netflix’s 2024 lineup, Vanessa Lachey shared a pic on Instagram of herself next to husband and co-host Nick Lachey, who is standing atop a small pile of boxes. Here’s what she said in the caption:

Filming for Love Is Blind season 7 features BTS! Now streaming live! I’m afraid Nick Lachey might be upset with this photo… Indeed, he uses steps to help him while hosting alongside me. 🤷🏽‍♀️ #LoveIsBlindNetflix #Netflix

Shots fired! And those shots unmistakably came from a spot lower down and closer to the floor, too.

It’s said that Vanessa Lachey and Nick Lachey are almost identical in height when neither is wearing shoes. However, once high heels are involved, he appears shorter. This seems to be the time when platform soles or “risers” are used.

Admittedly, even though I know that height manipulation is common in TV and films, I was still taken aback to see the ex-boy band member towering over his co-host who was standing on the floor. It’s hard for me to imagine how this could appear normal under any circumstances. And I’m not alone in finding it odd that he used two boxes instead of one.

  • oh my goodness, two boxes? I get one, but two?!☠️😂 – @labelessnutrition
  • Are two really necessary though? 🤣🤣🤣 – @the_rogue_raven_27
  • Haha just like when Yas filmed mainly season 1 of the best show ever NCIS Hawaii with Tori when they had Kacy scenes 😂 I miss u all my fave team, cast & characters ever 😢 but we aren’t ready to quit fighting to #SaveNCISHawaii & never will be the fight will keep going till we get u back all together ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ – @mickeywayhaught13

The third comment by Vanesssa Lachey’s followers often reflects a hope that NCIS: Hawai’i may not be canceled forever. However, some fans don’t always relate the “save-the-show” hashtag to the main topic of their posts. This fan deserves praise for doing so effectively.

Nick and Vanessa Lachey will maintain a streaming presence throughout the spooktacular fall period, regardless of whether their show is specifically Halloween-themed. Beginning October 2, Love Is Blind Season 7 will premiere with the first six episodes, followed by episodes 709 and 710 on October 9, and episode 711 on October 16. The season finale is slated for release separately on October 23.
