As a seasoned movie critic who has seen his fair share of Christmas thrillers, I must say that Carry-On is a breath of fresh air. It’s not every day that a newcomer like Taron Egerton takes the lead in a film that’s poised to join the ranks of Netflix’s most-watched originals.
Remember when I watched Ratchet & Clank and thought, “This guy’s got potential”? Well, it seems that potential has been fully realized with Carry-On. The film’s fast-paced action and gripping storyline have left me on the edge of my seat, and I can’t help but root for our hero, Ethan Kopek.
The supporting cast is also top-notch, with Jason Bateman delivering a chilling performance that will leave you questioning everyone’s motives. And let’s not forget about the action scenes – they are nothing short of spectacular!
All in all, if Carry-On continues its current trajectory, it’s sure to become a Christmas classic. And who knows? Maybe we’ll even see a sequel someday. But until then, I’ll be counting down the days until next Christmas so I can watch this thrilling ride all over again.
Oh, and one more thing – I heard that Taron Egerton is already in talks to star as James Bond. If that happens, I think it’s safe to say we’ll have a new 007 on our hands!
The Netflix airport suspense movie, “Carry-On,” which debuted just ten days ago, is poised to shatter some records as long as it continues to lead Netflix’s movie rankings.
Recently, Taron Egerton’s thriller has been crowned as the top Christmas film on Letterboxd. Interestingly, The Hollywood Reporter suggests that “Carry-On” is making a strong move up Netflix’s viewership rankings and is poised to enter the Top 10 list of most-watched original Netflix films (this ranking measures the movie’s performance during its first 91 days after release).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carry-On racked up some impressive viewership figures within a span of ten days. With a total of 97.1 million viewing hours, when divided by its two-hour duration, this equates to an astounding 48.5 million views. Currently, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which is at the tenth spot in Netflix’s list of most-watched movies, appears to be in Carry-On’s crosshairs. Furthermore, Carry-On has managed to maintain its place as the most popular English-language movie on the streaming platform for two consecutive weeks.
The movie titled “Carry-On” was penned by T.J. Fixman and helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra. This is Fixman’s first venture into writing a full-length live-action film, having previously focused on video games and the 2016 release of Ratchet & Clank. On the other hand, Collet-Serra is an established director in Hollywood, with a history of directing Liam Neeson’s action films, horror productions like “Orphan” and “The Shallows”, and the superhero film “Black Adam”. The cast includes Egerton alongside Jason Bateman, Logan Marshall-Green, Dean Norris, Sofia Carson, Theo Rossi, and Sinqua Walls.
‘Carry-On’ Will Join Some Good Company in Netflix’s Top 10
In “Carry-On,” TSA agent Ethan Kopek faces an unexpected Christmas Eve turmoil when he learns about his pregnant girlfriend Nora. However, his joy is short-lived as he uncovers a plot by a dangerous mercenary aiming to smuggle a harmful bomb onto an airplane. As Ethan tries to notify the authorities, he’s left grappling with the dilemma of whether to confront the villains or shield his girlfriend. According to our review of the movie:
Carry-On presents a few unexpected twists, some of which are effective while others miss the mark. The villain’s influence extends further than anticipated when additional characters enter the storyline. The plot almost veers off course due to the dramatic unveiling of the villain’s wicked scheme. The film is overly ambitious at times. The creators stretch credibility given Bateman’s true intentions. Achieving the same deadly objective with less planning and execution could have been possible, but then we wouldn’t have all the frantic chases and high-budget action sequences.
Making it into Netflix’s Top 10 Original Series is a significant achievement, and today, we find titles such as “Red Notice,” “Don’t Look Up,” “The Adam Project,” “Bird Box,” and “Leave the World Behind” gracing this list. These movies boast some of Hollywood’s most established stars like Meryl Streep, Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Bullock, and Dwayne Johnson. However, Taron Egerton, a relatively fresh face in the industry, holds his own effortlessly in “Carry-On.” With such impressive company, it appears that the film is poised to join these movies soon. As for how high it climbs on the list, we’ll have to wait and see. A sequel could be on the horizon!
