As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for true crime narratives, I must say I am thoroughly intrigued by the upcoming season of Ryan Murphy’s Monsters series – specifically, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Having dived deep into countless virtual worlds and unraveling their mysteries, this real-life tale of a notorious crime that shook America in the 90s is a captivating twist to my usual gaming escapades.

I can’t wait to dive back into the chilling world of Ryan Murphy’s “Monsters” with the second season! It’s set to drop on Netflix, and guess what? I’ll be binge-watching “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” starting September 19th. Can’t wait to immerse myself in this gripping tale again!

The upcoming part in Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series continues with “Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” the miniseries featuring Jeffrey Dahmer, portrayed by Evan Peters, which debuted in 2022. After this series achieved extraordinary success on the streaming platform, Netflix commissioned two additional installments, transforming it into an anthology that will delve into “the tales of other notorious individuals who have left a lasting mark on society.”

The Series: The Tale of Brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez is based on the widely recognized real-life incident involving brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, who were found guilty in 1996 for the killings of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez.

“The plot revolves around: ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,’ which delves into the sensational case that captivated the globe. Originally, it was suggested they aimed to seize their family’s wealth, but now, as they serve life sentences without parole, the brothers insist that their actions were born out of a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse inflicted by their parents. The story invites viewers: ‘Who are the real monsters?'”

In this production, Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch play the roles of brothers Lyle and Erik, while Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny assume the characters of their parents, Jose and Kitty. Nathan Lane is cast as investigative journalist Dominick Dunne, and Ari Graynor steps into the part of criminal defense attorney Leslie Abramson.

In the early 1990s, the Menendez case captured public attention, and more recently, it has been dramatized on screen in various productions. The latest adaptation is titled “Monsters,” while earlier adaptations include TV movies aired by Fox and CBS in 1994, Lifetime’s “Menendez: Blood Brothers” in 2017, and NBC’s “Law & Order: True Crime” with Edie Falco portraying Abramson. In 2023, Peacock released a documentary called “Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed,” which featured Roy Rosselló, a former member of the boy band Menudo, accusing José Menendez of sexual assault when Rosselló was a teenager.

Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, David McMillan, Louise Shore, Carl Franklin, Scott Robertson, and an executive from Bardem co-produce the series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story“. Alongside its creators Murphy and Ian Brennan, they also take on directing roles. Brennan, Max Winkler, Paris Barclay, Michael Uppendahl, and Carl Franklin are among those who direct this series, while Murphy, McMillan, Todd Kubrak, Brennan, and Reilly Smith contribute to its writing.
