As a seasoned sneakerhead with over two decades of collecting under my belt, I must say, New Balance is truly outdoing themselves this year! The 991v2 “City Edition” Pack has got me absolutely thrilled. From my humble beginnings in the concrete jungle of New York City to my current residence amidst the picturesque landscapes of Tokyo, I’ve always been drawn to sneakers that represent the cities I’ve lived in or dreamt of visiting.
New Balance 991v2 City Pack – Release Dates and Retailers
Despite only being available for less than a year, New Balance’s British-made 991v2 model has rapidly gained popularity due to partnerships with brands like Stone Island, Patta, and Daniëlle Cathari, as well as its simple colorways such as “Brown” and “Brandied Apricot.” In recognition of the worldwide appreciation for this shoe, which is an updated version of the original 991, New Balance is now releasing a five-shoe “City Edition” collection.
Every pair of shoes in the collection is uniquely tied to a particular region, and will be launched in collaboration with some of the region’s leading boutiques. The ‘blue’ version is set for release in the U.S., working closely with Social Status; the ‘yellow’ is planned for the Asia-Pacific area through Casestudy and UP THERE; France gets the ‘green’ variant, distributed by Starcow; Japan will see the ‘pink’ edition, aided by atmos; and finally, China will welcome the ‘red’ version via New Balance’s own NB Grey store. All five styles feature colorful pig suede uppers, accented with black and grey throughout the rest of their design, including a two-tone black and grey midsole that encases a full-length FuelCell footbed within a sturdy ENCAP rim.
Exclusive releases from our boutique will continue throughout August. The green shoes will debut on the 10th, followed by pink ones on the 14th, blue on the 17th, red on the 21st and finally yellow on the 28th. Although the final price isn’t announced yet, similar colorways from the 991v2 line typically retail for $250 USD, so we can expect this collection to be priced around that range.
