Next ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Movie Enlists Sam Neill

Sam Neill isn’t tired yet of portraying massive, fearsome beasts. The renowned star of “Jurassic Park” has recently signed on as part of the upcoming MonsterVerse film produced by Legendary.

I’m excited about the upcoming sequel to 2024’s “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” which raked in an impressive $571 million worldwide. Not much is known yet about the plot, but as a fan, I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds with some new human characters joining the legendary Titans, Godzilla and Kong, as they battle against a world-ending catastrophe. Dave Callaham has penned the script, and Grant Sputore will be directing this epic adventure.

Neill will be teaming up with Kaitlyn Dever, another fresh face in the series, as well as Jack O’Connell portraying her brother. Additionally, Dan Stevens, who previously appeared as the easygoing monster vet and dentist Trapper in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, will be part of the human cast too.

As a devoted fan, I’ve been captivated since 2014 when Legendary’s MonsterVerse burst onto the scene with the iconic Godzilla. Since then, this cinematic universe has amassed an impressive $2.5 billion at the global box office across films like Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). The franchise has even branched out into the small screen, with the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, currently working on a second season.

Neill, under the management of CAA and Authentic Talent Management, has recently appeared in the Peacock series “Apples Never Fall” and will soon grace our screens in the Netflix mystery series “Untamed.” Notably, he portrayed Dr. Alan Grant in “Jurassic Park,” and reprised this role for both “Jurassic Park III” (2001) and the latest installment, “Jurassic World Dominion” (2022).
