Nick Jonas to Star in KISS Biopic ‘Shout It Out Loud’ from Director McG

Nick Jonas is close to being cast as Paul Stanley, the lead singer of the legendary rock group KISS, in an upcoming biographical movie about them.

McG will direct the project, titled Shout It Out Loud, which is being fully financed by STX.

The group originated in New York during the 1970s and gained fame for its glam rock aesthetic, regularly appearing on stage with face paint and ornate outfits. They achieved success with tunes such as “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “Deuce”. Their concerts incorporated dramatic elements, featuring pyrotechnics, rockets, simulated blood spitting, and smoke effects.

Casting is currently underway for the role of KISS icon Gene Simmons.

Darren Lemke recently penned the most recent version of the project, which has been collectively crafted by the band members along with Jody Gerson from Universal Music Publishing Group and Bruce Resnikoff at Universal Music Group. They hold global control over the band’s music rights. Additionally, David Blackman from Polygram contributed to the development of this project.

Simmons, Stanley, Mark Canton, Doc McGhee, Gerson, and Blackman will collaborate on production duties, with some serving as producers and others as executive producers. Leigh Ann Burton, McG, Mary Viola from Wonderland Productions, David Hopwood, Courtney Solomon, Dorothy Canton, and Sweden-based Pophouse, who acquired the worldwide rights to the KISS brand, are also involved in this production team. Pophouse now controls the KISS brand’s name and likeness.

Jonas, represented by UTA and Schreck Rose, hails from a musical family, having been part of the band The Jonas Brothers and subsequently launching a solo career with popular tracks such as “Jealous.” In film, he has made appearances within the Jumanji series and will soon be featured alongside Paul Rudd in John Carney’s upcoming movie, Power Ballad, produced by Lionsgate.
