Noah Hawley’s Alien TV Series Gets Official Title, Exciting Update

As a hardcore gamer and longtime fan of the Alien franchise, I’ve been following the development of Noah Hawley’s television series with bated breath. The thought of a new Alien show, especially one helmed by the creator of FX’s Fargo and Legion, is nothing short of exhilarating.

Noah Hawley’s “Alien” TV show, previously unnamed, has completed filming. The mastermind behind FX’s “Fargo” and “Legion” was revealed to be developing an “Alien” series for Disney-owned FX during Disney’s Investor Day in 2020. Though much excitement surrounds the upcoming movie “Alien: Romulus,” many fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on Hawley’s “Alien” TV project, which he has recently disclosed.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hawley revealed that the title of the upcoming series is “Alien: Earth”. Filming for this project started in 2023 but was halted by the writers’ (WGA) and actors’ (SAG-AFTRA) strikes last summer. Despite these setbacks, Hawley is currently working on editing the show and is optimistic that fans will find it engaging.

I’m currently in the editing room, making adjustments and adding visual effects, which is a time-consuming process. Yet, I couldn’t be more pleased with the footage we captured for our show set in the world of Alien. If viewers were looking for a television series inspired by this universe, I believe they will find something extraordinary from us.

Alien’s Long Road to the Small Screen

In 2017, it appeared that the “Alien” series was nearing its conclusion. The film “Alien: Covenant” underperformed at the box office, and Disney started discussing the acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Fans were curious how the adult-oriented “Alien” franchise would fit into Disney’s broader strategy. Initially, it seemed that it would be slated for streaming, as “Alien: Earth” was first unveiled in 2020 – a year after Disney finalized the acquisition of 20th Century Fox – and the studio was prioritizing streaming content.

After that announcement, Disney and 20th Century Studios have been working on extensive plans for the Alien franchise. Much like Marvel and Star Wars, Alien is poised to produce both movies and TV shows as successful brands. The upcoming installment, Alien: Romulus, is set to hit theaters on August 16, while Alien: Earth, a prequel to the original 1979 film, is predicted to release in 2025, five years after the series was unveiled. Notably, showrunner Noah Hawley has already declared that Alien: Earth will disregard the events of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

Earth” features Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, and Essie Davis in its cast. Timothy Olyphant of “Justified” fame is taking on the synthetic role that every “Alien” production requires. With Hawley’s past successes in adapting shows like “Fargo” and “X-Men” into successful TV series, fans are eagerly anticipating “Alien: Earth” and “Alien: Romulus,” which could help restore the sci-fi franchise’s previous fame.
