As a movie enthusiast who’s seen his fair share of action flicks and has been following Bob Odenkirk‘s career since his days as Saul Goodman, I can confidently say that the announcement of Nobody 2 has sent a thrill down my spine! The first installment was a delightful surprise, transforming Odenkirk into an unexpected action hero. And with Timo Tjahjanto at the helm for this sequel, we’re in for a visceral treat.
I’m thrilled to share that the follow-up to Bob Odenkirk’s 2021 action blockbuster, “Nobody,” is now in production! Director Timo Tjahjanto, renowned for his work on the intense Indonesian action thriller “The Night Comes for Us,” has graced us with a sneak peek at the comeback of our beloved underdog action hero, Hutch Mansell. Taking to social media, he posted some behind-the-scenes shots from the set of “Nobody 2.” Among these images are one featuring Odenkirk himself and another capturing the dynamic duo with producer and “Deadpool 2” director David Leitch. I can hardly wait to see what unfolds in this highly anticipated sequel!
Take a peek at the initial backstage photos from the upcoming movie “Nobody 2” right here. The filmmaker described these shots as “I’m more thankful than words can express.”
The film titled “Nobody,” which premiered in March the previous year, was helmed by director Ilya Naishuller and penned by Derek Kolstad. This production features Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, Aleksey Serebryakov, RZA, Christopher Lloyd, and Michael Ironside in its cast. By showcasing the talents of Odenkirk, a star from “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” this movie has established him as the latest action hero of cinema.
The narrative revolves around Odenkirk portraying Hutch Mansell, who appears to be a calm and ordinary family man. At the film’s start, Hutch is underappreciated and overlooked as a father and husband. However, when burglars invade his suburban home one night, Hutch’s suppressed anger erupts, awakening dormant instincts within him. This sets him on a violent journey that brings to light hidden secrets and unearthes latent abilities.
Nobody 2 Is Due to Hit Theaters in August 2025
It took no time for Nobody to become a significant success for Universal Pictures. The action movie garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and viewers due to Odenkirk’s captivating charm and likeability, as well as his surprising skill in delivering convincing high-impact fight scenes. Along with admiration from audiences across the globe, Nobody also performed exceptionally well at the box office, earning over $57M worldwide on a budget of just $16 million. This means that the thrilling escapades of Hutch will carry on.
The sequel to “Nobody” was written by Derek Kolstad, who is known for writing the “John Wick” series, along with Aaron Rabin (Jack Ryan), Bryan Okenirk, and Umair Aleem (Kate). Kelly McCormick and David Leitch are back as producers of this follow-up, produced by 87North. Additionally, Bryan Okenirk and Marc Provissiero produce through Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment, while Braden Aftergood produces through Eighty Two Films.
The specifics of the storyline are yet to be disclosed, but the upcoming sequel will feature Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, and Christopher Lloyd in leading roles. Additionally, actress Sharon Stone from films like ‘Basic Instinct’ and ‘Total Recall’ has joined the cast to portray the film’s primary antagonist.
In addition to “Nobody 2,” Odenkirk will also rejoin writer Derek Kolstad for another action-packed movie titled “Normal.” This film appears to draw heavily on the elements that made “Nobody” so popular. Ben Wheatley, director of “Meg 2: The Trench,” “Free Fire,” and “Kill List,” is rumored to take the helm for this project. In “Normal,” we follow a temporary sheriff in the tranquil town of Normal who, while attempting to leave behind his haunted past, stumbles upon a sinister criminal conspiracy lurking at the core of the community.
Nobody 2
is due to be released on August 15, 2025.
