Congratulations are definitely in order for the newly-paired duo from “Nobody Wants This,” as the on-screen couple, portrayed by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, appear cozy and content in the debut sneak peek of season 2!
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the beloved Netflix romantic comedy is now filming its second season right here in Los Angeles! The adorable duo who play Joanne and Noah posted an exclusive behind-the-scenes snapshot (above), capturing them snuggled up together on a couch, deep in character.
In September 2024, the Netflix series starring a charismatic rabbi named Noah (Brody) and an unconventional podcaster, Joanne (Bell), who find themselves falling in love, gained immense popularity for the streaming service. The show was swiftly renewed just two weeks following the premiere of its first season.
Season two will premiere later this year, with a specific date yet to be announced.
The series titled “Nobody Wants This” was a global sensation, staying in Netflix’s Top 10 Global English TV List for six consecutive weeks and reaching the top 10 in an impressive 89 countries. During its first eleven days on air, it garnered nearly 90 million hours of worldwide viewership, which is equivalent to approximately 26.2 million complete views of the entire season.
The initial season delved into the contemporary challenges Noah and Joanne faced in their romantic endeavors, as well as the supportive yet occasionally hindering roles of their families. In the end, they decided to overcome all these hurdles and continue their relationship. As they posed the question, “So, how does this work?”, creator Erin Foster was already busy crafting the solution.
Before the formal announcement of Season 2, the writers’ room was already back in action, with Foster hiring new showrunners Bruce Eric Kaplan and Jenni Konner. They were busy devising a plot twist for Joanne’s storyline (originally based on Foster’s own experiences for Season 1) that would align with the direction the show intended to go. As Foster expressed to THR after Season 1, “Joanne doesn’t have to follow the same path I did.” She also pondered on the significant influence of her series about Judaism, given the rise in antisemitism. “However,” she continued, “I don’t believe this is a show that should withhold what viewers are eagerly anticipating. Instead, it’s a show where you expect to get what you desire.
Joining Bell and Brody once more, Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons will be the main cast members for season 2. Additionally, our returning star, Jackie Tohn, has been promoted to a series regular.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that some exciting new faces have joined the cast! Leighton Meester, Brody’s real-life spouse, will bring Abby to life. Abby is none other than Joanne’s (Bell) long-time school rival, who’s now a popular Instagram mommy influencer. Miles Fowler steps into the role of Lenny, Noah’s (Brody) teammate in the Matzah Ballers, who finds himself on a date with Morgan (Lupe). Alex Karpovsky, known for his roles in ‘Girls’ and ‘Angelyne’, takes on the character of “Big Noah”, an overly confident rabbi at Noah’s temple. Lastly, Arian Moayed from ‘Succession’ will play Dr. Andy, a charismatic psychotherapist who could be just the right fit for Morgan.
