Nevertheless, it’s challenging to rival the original show that debuted back in 1999 and continues to air new episodes weekly. In fact, Netflix has been incorporating seasons of this cherished anime into its library for several years now, and they are planning to include one of the most moving arcs from the series soon.

How Dressrosa is One of the Best ‘One Piece’ Arcs

Regardless of some people saying it was lengthy, the Dressrosa Arc in the One Piece series is widely considered a significant and impressive part. In this arc, Monkey D. Luffy and Trafalgar D. Water Law’s friendship reaches its peak as they confront Donquixote Doflamingo, one of the most formidable villains in the entire series, for the betterment of the corrupt island of Dressrosa. The setting is reminiscent of the Roman Empire and features gladiator contests, an uprising among toys-turned-people, and many poignant moments stemming from Law’s tragic past. Many memorable One Piece scenes are sprinkled throughout this season, like Luffy using Gear 4 for the first time against Doflamingo.

In numerous aspects, the Dressrosa arc serves as a conclusion to previous arcs while also setting up what follows, such as WANO. However, it’s primarily renowned for its deeply emotional scenes. Law’s relationship with Doflamingo and his ruthless pirate crew, Luffy’s new acquaintances like Rebecca who fight in an arena reminiscent of Rome, each character gets their moment to stand out. Some critics argue that the arc introduces too many characters, old and new, but this is part of what makes One Piece unique. Despite its scale, the emotional heart of the story remains consistent, and Dressrosa is no exception.
