In One Piece Season 2, a diverse group of actors was gathered to bring to life some of the vibrant characters that Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates will cross paths with during their journey on the Grand Line. David Dastmalchian was chosen for the part of Mr. 3, one of many antagonists they’ll face, and I’m thrilled to watch him in this role. However, his recent remarks about taking items from the set have caused me some concern.
While we anxiously anticipate formal updates regarding when we can stream the series using a Netflix subscription, the official X account shared a fresh behind-the-scenes video featuring Dastmalchian discussing his work on the upcoming episodes and sharing his favorite aspects of the experience. In this video, he also hinted at a significant prop he got to keep, leaving me wondering why they allowed him to take Mr. 3’s wig home.
David Dastmalchian Took Mr. 3’s Hair From The Set
After watching the sets for Season 1 of One Piece and those from Season 2, it’s understandable how one might be tempted to keep a piece as a souvenir if given the chance. Even the creator, Eiichiro Oda, was impressed by the dedication of the Netflix team, so it’s no wonder someone would consider taking a prop. Actor David Dastmalchian seized this opportunity and shared his reasons for choosing Mr. 3’s wig.
I love my vibrant, stylish hair; it adds a unique flair to me, and I believe it makes quite an impression. Whenever I need to go somewhere or order three items, I can simply gesture towards my hair to get across what I want.
Am I the only one finding it puzzling that I would dash about buying three of everything just to indicate at the wig? This question seems geared more toward fans of “One Piece,” as we understand that Mr. 3 will reappear in the story later on.
Mr. 3 Eventually Returns To One Piece, So Why Did They Let Him Take The Wig?
People who aren’t watching the live-action series of One Piece may recognize Mr. 3 as a character who enters the story later, particularly in the Impel Down and Marineford storylines. Since these arcs are likely far into the future for this adaptation, it makes one ponder why they would let him wear a wig shaped like the number three if perhaps they didn’t anticipate him reprising his role.
Previously, we’ve discussed on TopMob the extensive length of “One Piece” and the slim chances of the Netflix series ever wrapping up, even if it were the most-watched show on their platform. Despite this, the whispers about Xolo Maridueña being chosen to portray Luffy’s brother Ace had me thinking there might be an ambition to finish the series with the Marineford storyline.
Given that David Dastmalchian, who played Mr. 3, has left the show without his iconic wig, and Mr. 3 himself has taken a central role in Marineford, it makes me wonder if the show’s creators realize the series might not have much hope of reaching its destination, so they don’t mind keeping the elaborate wig with the actor. However, I acknowledge that my assumption could be an overreaction, as there are other plausible explanations for this, such as logistical issues or creative decisions.
- There’s more than one Mr. 3 wig.
- Mr. 3 is written out of the live-action adaptation.
- The makeup crew isn’t worried about making another wig.
I might be worrying too much, but I strongly believe it’s important to stay attentive as we anticipate updates on the show’s comeback and ponder if the entire Straw Hat group will eventually reunite. The positive aspect is that the anime is set to resume shortly, giving enthusiasts the opportunity to immerse themselves in over 1100 episodes while patiently waiting for the live-action adaptation.
In this version, I attempted to maintain a casual and easy-to-read tone while providing an alternative way of expressing your original text.
It seems increasingly probable that the next season of “One Piece” on Netflix might not air until 2026. Fingers crossed it doesn’t go past that date, as there’s an abundance of material left for this adaptation to cover.
