Oscars: Nominations Voting Extended by Two Days, Noms Announcement and Other Events Postponed, in Light of Devastating LA Fires

The global distribution of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences members has expanded extensively compared to previous times. Nonetheless, a significant majority of voters, approximately 6,000 out of 10,000, are still located in and around Southern California. Unfortunately, this region is currently grappling with rampant wildfires.

Following thoughtfulness towards numerous members who’ve experienced disruption due to a recent event, the Academy has decided to prolong the voting window for Oscar nominations. Originally starting at 9am PT on Wednesday and ending at 5pm PT on Sunday, the deadline is now being extended until 5pm PT on Jan. 14. Moreover, the announcement of the Oscar nominations, initially scheduled for Friday, Jan. 17, has been postponed to Sunday, Jan. 19.

More to come.
