“World’s Tallest” 3D Printed Building Unveiled in Switzerland
Michael Hansmeyer, an architect, and Benjamin Dillenburger, professor of Digital Building Technologies at ETH, spearheaded the project for this unique building. They utilized an advanced additive manufacturing method that leverages robot assistance. Initially, algorithms create both ornamental and structural elements. Subsequently, robots execute the task by meticulously applying concrete in layers, eliminating the need for conventional casting molds. A fresh reinforcement concept, implemented with the aid of robotic assistants, contributed significantly to the building’s innovative load-bearing properties.
