As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that stun mechanics in games like Path of Exile 2 have been a game-changer for me. The ability to control combat flow by temporarily incapacitating enemies is nothing short of brilliant. It’s like being a bullfighter, but instead of a red cape, I use strategic attacks!
Stunning enemies in Path of Exile 2 can help you control how combat goes.
When you know how to use stuns, you can stop mobs and knock down bosses to catch your breath.
To truly master this technique, this tutorial provides all the essential knowledge on executing stunning moves flawlessly.
How To Stun Enemies
Stunning is a solid trick that can temporarily remove the enemy from the game and leave them open to attack.
The game throws two stuns at you, each for a different use.
Regular Stun
A regular stun momentarily interrupts an enemy’s current action, causing them to stagger briefly.
This tool performs effectively against less powerful adversaries, providing you with a swift opportunity to respond, minimizing the risk of retaliation.
This stun depends on your accuracy and whether the enemy can dodge your attacks.
Heavy Stun
Heavy Stun is built to stop tough enemies like bosses and elites in their tracks.
Every time you land a hit, the enemy’s Heavy Stun yellow bar (below their health) fills up.
When the bar becomes full, it causes the opponent to be knocked out temporarily, giving you an opportunity to inflict significant damage continuously, without needing to pause.

Both stuns are based on the damage you deal, so focusing on your offense is the way to go.
Stunning is triggered whenever you hit an enemy with enough damage, especially physical damage.
The more damage you deal, the more effective you’ll be at stunning enemies.
In a regular scenario, the likelihood of stunning an opponent depends on the proportion of damage you inflict versus their remaining health. On the other hand, a heavy stun is accumulated as you continuously deal damage, which is represented by a yellow meter filling up over time.
While most attacks can cause stuns, damage-over-time effects won’t add to the Heavy Stun meter.
By blending both instant (burst) and prolonged (sustained) damage, you can enhance the overall efficiency of your stunning technique, as some targets may be susceptible to certain types of stuns more than others.
In simpler terms, ordinary attacks are more effective against weaker opponents, whereas larger enemies such as bosses and elites require more damage to accumulate their Heavy Knockback gauge.
Have you encountered any enemies that are tougher to stun than others?
