Paul Feig to Direct ‘Worst Roommate Ever’ Movie for Blumhouse

As a seasoned gamer and avid consumer of horror content, I can’t help but get excited about this latest collaboration between Paul Feig and Jason Blum. The duo’s upcoming project, “Worst Roommate Ever,” promises to deliver the perfect blend of scares, thrills, emotion, and comedy that both Feig and Blum are known for in their respective bodies of work.

Paul Feig and Jason Blum are collaborating on a project. They will be working together on a movie based on the unscripted Netflix series “Worst Roommate Ever,” produced by Blumhouse.

A newly single woman, named Feig, invites a seemingly ideal tenant to rent the extra room in her desired house. However, she soon discovers that his false identity extends beyond a fake name and application. Unbeknownst to her, she has let a serial squatter into her home, and he refuses to vacate without resistance.

“For years, Jason and I have been searching for an ideal project to team up on, and this story seems perfectly suited to eliciting fear, excitement, feelings, and humor that appeals to us. In essence, I’m thrilled beyond measure to have Jason as my co-creator for this film.”

Recently, Feig finished directing “The School for Good and Evil” for Netflix. In the future, he will be in charge of both directing and producing the action-comedy film “Jackpot” for Amazon MGM Studios. He recently concluded the production of “A Simple Favor 2,” a sequel to the 2018 thriller with the same title.

The feature take on Worst Roommate Ever will be produced by Laura Fischer and marks the first time Blumhouse has produced a movie and TV show based on the same piece of intellectual property. A 2018 New York Magazine article by William Brennan inspired the original unscripted TV series Worst Roommate Ever from Blumhouse Television, which has earned two seasons on Netflix.

Blumhouse had long intended to turn Brennan’s article into both a TV series and a movie. However, the go-ahead for the film version only came once Feig became involved.

Feig expressed his excitement about working with Jason Blum on the feature adaptation. For years, we’ve been searching for the ideal project to team up on, and this story fits us perfectly as it provides the necessary scares, thrills, emotion, and humor that both Jason and I enjoy delivering to our audiences. In essence, I’m thrilled to have Jason as my ideal co-producer for this film.

Blum, Chris Morgan, and Vox Media’s Scoop Wasserstein share the production credits for this feature film adaptation. The executive producing team includes Ainsley Morgan from Chris Morgan Productions, William Brennan, and Bea Sequeira from Blumhouse.

Blumhouse collaborated once more with Stephen Susco on the script for Feig’s upcoming movie. Haley Pigman is in charge of the project at Blumhouse.

“Paul is an ideal choice for directing this project as he consistently achieves a harmonious blend of darkness and light in his work. I’m looking forward to witnessing the unique contributions he will make to the story,” stated Blumhouse CEO and founder.
