Peaky Blinders Creator Teases New Projects After Netflix Film

Although the Peaky Blinders series concluded after six exceptional seasons and an upcoming film slated for 2026, it seems that the creator isn’t quite done with the franchise yet. The gritty Shelby family world is set to grow beyond “The Immortal Man,” the anticipated feature film, as indicated by Knight’s recent hints suggesting that the movie may serve as a fitting conclusion for this particular chapter of the story. Filming for the movie has now been completed.

During an interview with BBC Breakfast, Knight hinted at more than just the upcoming movie; he also alluded to potential new developments in the Peaky Blinders series. In fact, he made it clear that the saga of Thomas Shelby and his Birmingham criminal empire is far from concluded. This is what he said:

I can’t reveal it officially yet, but rest assured that the world of Peaky Blinders isn’t finished.

Steven Knight Is Excited About ‘The Immortal Man’

It’s not a new topic that Steven Knight has mentioned plans for expanding the franchise. Back in December 2024, during an interview with Deadline, Knight revealed that the production of The Immortal Man had wrapped up before the holidays. When he was asked if there were any projects he was considering beyond the Peaky Blinders film, the creator gave hints without being direct about it, using his own words:

Indeed, your timing is quite apt as the movie is set for release soon. Let me clarify that this isn’t the conclusion, if you will. I’m implying that there might still be more to come, not that everything we have so far is exhausted.

For just a few months now, Knight has hinted at another Peaky Blinders endeavor, but it seems he’s chosen to remain secretive about it. There’s speculation that this upcoming project could launch a new series or movie, potentially leading to numerous spin-offs delving deeper into the gritty universe of Peaky Blinders.

Steven Knight, the screenwriter and producer, who’s currently managing multiple ventures such as “House of Guinness,” “Roads to Freedom,” and “Ferrari,” is notably thrilled about “The Immortal Man.” This film, directed by Tom Harper, boasts a talented roster of top-tier actors, spearheaded by Cillian Murphy – the Oscar-winning actor who’s more famously known as Tommy Shelby than by his own name, due to his iconic portrayal of Thomas Shelby.

In the cast of Murphy, Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck will be reunited, while fresh faces like Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Barry Keoghan, and Jay Lycurgo are anticipated to take on key roles. Here’s what Steven Knight has to share about The Immortal Man:

“We’re currently assembling it,” followed by a confident remark, “Don’t you agree? Yet, I must say, it’s simply remarkable! We’ve gathered some of the finest British talents under one roof, including Stephen [Graham]. The material I’m previewing – the raw footage, the edits – I guarantee no one will be left unimpressed. It’s truly a unique production.

Although many specifics about the storyline for “The Immortal Man” are still a secret, Knight previously hinted to Radio Times that the movie will delve into an unspoken tale from World War II. Given that “Peaky Blinders” was intended to end around the start of WWII, it seems Knight has found a compelling reason to carry on, potentially leading to something remarkable.
