I’ve dabbled in numerous Sudoku-like brain teasers, and Primrows resembles a creative spin on this idea, but with an enchanting floral theme and multiple methods to tally points. In each stage, you receive a grid designed for flower cultivation. This grid is segmented into several boxes that you can manage.

In Primrows, your “flower garden” is represented by the grid. By watering it, you encourage growth in empty spaces, as all viable flowers bloom at once. After that, you may trim away any unwanted flowers, then water again until you exhaust your watering opportunities.

In this game, the objectives for flowers can vary based on your desired activities. You might find yourself aiming for specific arrangements of diverse flowers or boosting the happiness of certain flowers in your garden, which could earn you points. This mode lasts across multiple rounds, allowing you to save up points from what you’ve grown so far. There’s also a Quick Play option that offers just one round for scoring as many points as possible. I really appreciate the small indicators in Primrows that signal achievements, such as the equal sign for a row filled with various flowers and the box icon for a box containing diverse blooms. These symbols assist me in determining what to trim and how to maximize my score.

The flower’s happiness is more of a mystery to me, as they can smile and then start frowning when you prune a flower they might like. This is something you have to sort of work out for each flower, bringing additional challenge as you try to gain more points.
