As a humble observer of the dynamic world of Bollywood, I have witnessed the meteoric rise of Priyanka Chopra from a struggling actress to a global icon. Her journey, riddled with challenges and setbacks, has been nothing short of inspiring. The story of her crooked nose and the subsequent struggles she faced in the industry is a testament to her resilience and determination.
At present, Priyanka Chopra is a renowned figure, a star that many aspire to collaborate with. Yet, there was once a period when filmmakers were cutting her out of their projects due to complications from a nose job. In an interview, Anil Sharma, the director of Gadar 2, disclosed that Priyanka and her family faced hardships as opportunities seemed scarce for her. Nevertheless, he considers her a multi-talented actress who is clear about her ambitions, much like Arjun in Mahabharata, always aiming for success.
Anil Sharma and Priyanka Chopra have a long-standing relationship as he was the one who cast her in her first Hindi film, “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy” alongside Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. Over time, he’s witnessed her endure hardships and rise to stardom not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Sharma expressed that he hasn’t encountered a more ‘all-encompassing’ actress than her.
In regards to the director of Gadar 2, she expressed that the actress in question is clear about her aims and takes all necessary steps to attain them. Using an analogy, she said, “She doesn’t veer left or right. Her focus is as sharp as Arjun’s on his target, and there’s nowhere else it wanders.
Reflecting on the situation, I realized my mistake in judging her harshly. Initially, I assumed that she opted for surgery to emulate Julia Roberts, but it turned out that she had been struggling with sinus problems. Unfortunately, the operation didn’t go as planned and she suffered a broken nose. In light of this new information, I understand now that there was no blame on her end.
Asked if he foresaw Chopra’s rise to superstardom, the filmmaker answered affirmatively, stating that had he not foreseen her fame, he wouldn’t have chosen her for “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy” and would have discarded her like any other actor.
