25 years ago, Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel first appeared in the movie world through Rakesh Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Coincidentally, this classic film was brought back to cinemas today on Hrithik’s 51st birthday. Looking back, Rakesh Roshan recalled a difficult period in his life when he faced an attack by the mafia during the initial release of the movie, which posed a tough situation for the star of War 2.
In a chat with India Today, seasoned actor-director Rakesh Roshan pointed out that when Kaho Naa Pyar Hai premiered, the newcomer had to manage the spotlight solo.
regrettably, I fell victim to gunfire by the mafia within a week, landing me in the hospital. He found himself juggling two significant ordeals at once—his first movie becoming a huge success with widespread acclaim, and his father enduring critical injuries and requiring hospitalization. It was an exceedingly difficult period for us, he admitted.
Roshan continued by expressing gratitude for divine intervention in his recovery and labeling their experience as extraordinary. He then discussed the movie’s resurgence during its 25th anniversary re-release, feeling elated as a director to see the film still resonating with viewers long after it was first released.
Expressing delight, Roshan spoke about the re-release of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai following Karan Arjun. He was pleased to see fans returning for a movie they’ve seen multiple times. What makes it even more thrilling is that younger generations are eager to watch it on the big screen. In conclusion, he found it truly satisfying.
In a recent chat with News 24, Ameesha Patel disclosed that both she and Hrithik Roshan were proposed to, and fans even tied the knot symbolically with their photos in temples at the time of the movie’s release. “I received letters penned in blood, expressing their affection. It was quite terrifying. I had stalkers… individuals persistently tracking us,” she explained.
