As a dedicated horror film enthusiast and avid follower of Samara Weaving‘s electrifying performances, I am beyond excited about the potential return of Grace in Ready or Not 2. With her captivating portrayal of Grace in the original film, Weaving has proven herself to be a formidable final girl, one who can endure the most harrowing nightmares and still emerge victorious.
Samara Weaving, who portrayed Grace in the 2019 horror movie “Ready or Not,” expresses excitement about reprising her role should a sequel materialize. Discussions about a second installment have gained momentum since April, when directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin (collectively known as Radio Silence) announced that a script was in existence. The filmmakers described the script as “an amazing sequel” and shared their enthusiasm for the possibility of another film, stating there is “a lot more story to tell.” Naturally, this story would involve Grace, the movie’s final girl who miraculously survived a harrowing night at her in-laws. Weaving herself is fully committed to returning for a sequel.
In an interview with Comicbook.com, during promotions for her latest horror movie titled Azrael, Weaving mentioned her potential return for the upcoming sequel of Ready or Not.
I’m fully committed to this. It seems everyone else is too, though I can’t say for sure. If not officially, then it’s very close to that point. We’ve exchanged gestures of camaraderie, but we haven’t gone as far as symbolically bonding through a blood ritual.
It seems that Ready or Not creators Weaving and Radio Silence are keen on returning to the franchise, but a definitive go-ahead is still missing. In jest, Weaving hinted at reaching out to speed up matters. There’s buzz suggesting director Adam Robitel, known for The Taking of Deborah Logan, could be in negotiations for the sequel, though this is yet to be confirmed. Regardless, Radio Silence’s enthusiasm for the project indicates their continued involvement, which is exciting news for fans of the first film, as we hope the sequel will maintain the original’s essence.
Samara Weaving’s Subtle Nod to Grace
2023’s “Scream VI” sees a reunion of actors Gillett, Bettinelli-Olpin, and Weaving. In this film, Weaving dons a striking yellow turtleneck dress. This outfit, as revealed by the movie’s costume designer, Avery Plewes, is a clever blend of references – a “hybrid salute,” if you will – to Rose McGowan’s Tatum’s memorable attire from the first “Scream” and Grace’s iconic yellow Converse shoes in “Ready or Not.
Prepared for another thrilling ride, Ready or Not 2 looks set to deliver an action-packed experience with its captivating screenplay, a passionate lead actor, and an audience eagerly anticipating the sequel. Although the green light is yet to be given, all indications point towards Samara Weaving reprising her role as Grace in the near future.
Meanwhile, the actress is solidifying her status as a prominent horror film star by adding another noteworthy role to her legacy. Her recent horror project, titled “Azrael” directed by E.L. Katz, has received positive feedback and will hit U.S. cinemas on September 27. This movie takes place in a world where no one speaks and revolves around a devout female-led community chasing down a young woman named Azrael (Weaving), who managed to escape her confinement. Upon capture, she must battle for survival or be offered as a sacrifice to an ancient evil lurking in the wilderness. Eventually, “Azrael” will make its way to Shudder for online streaming. The duo of Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin previously worked together on the film “Abigail“.
