Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji team member dies after getting swept away by river; cops find body after 2 days

While filming Riteish Deshmukh’s movie “Raja Shivaji,” a distressing event took place. A young dancer from the choreography team, aged 26, was discovered deceased on April 25, 2025, following her disappearance two days prior in Satara. Consequently, the film production has come to a temporary standstill.

As per a report from PTI, the deceased dancer has been identified as Saurabh Sharma. His body was discovered on Thursday (April 24). The unfortunate event occurred two days prior at Sangam Mahuli, a village located where the Krishna and Venna rivers meet in Satara district. It’s worth noting that Riteish’s film “Raja Shivaji” was being filmed in this area at the time.

While a vibrant powder was airborne during the shooting festivities, Saurabh and some of his colleagues headed towards the Krishna River to clean their hands. Subsequently, Saurabh ventured deep into the river for a swim but unfortunately succumbed to the fierce river currents. As soon as this unfortunate event occurred, authorities were alerted, and rescue teams promptly began an extensive operation to locate him.

That evening, the search had to stop due to the lack of light. The next day, the search continued but unfortunately, the missing dancer remained undiscovered. On Thursday morning, at approximately 7:30 am, his body was found in the Krishna River by police and emergency responders. An accidental death report has been filed with the Satara police, and they are currently conducting an investigation.

Following the devastating incident, the filming of Raja Shivaji was halted.

Previously, a statement was released by Riteish Deshmukh’s production house, Mumbai Film Company, concerning the unfortunate drowning of Saurabh Sharma. Although they haven’t commented on his recent passing, their post stated that Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh, Remo D’Souza, and others from their team quickly made their way to the riverbank upon hearing the news of the incident.

Immediately, local swimmers were summoned to lend aid, and a search using a drone was initiated. Additionally, the District Collector of Satara was reached out to speed up the rescue efforts.

In simpler terms, “Raja Shivaji” is a movie that unfolds the life story of the great Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This film, both in Marathi and Hindi, is directed by Riteish Deshmukh, who also takes on the lead role. Notably, Bhagyashree plays a substantial part in this production as well.
