Having spent countless hours immersed in the dark corners of history and cinema, this scent transports me to the very heart of Robert Eggers’ chilling masterpiece, Nosferatu.
What does a vampire smell like?
As a gaming enthusiast delving into the world of fragrances, I took on a chilling assignment – crafting a scent inspired by Robert Eggers’ upcoming movie, Nosferatu, for Heretic Parfum. To uncover the secret, I pierced through the mystique and gloom by watching Eggers’ film and immersing myself in historical investigation.
He navigated his path here by following the scent: The Heretic Perfume, famously known as “Eau de Macabre,” is characterized by its initial notes of lilac and ambrette seed that transition into a blend of violet, orris root, and earthy petrichor in the middle layer. Lastly, the enigmatic base layers are infused with vegan ambergris and Oud absolute, as described by the brand.
The aim is to create a scent reminiscent of the film’s atmosphere, immersing the wearer so deeply that they might find themselves within the very shadows inhabited by Count Orlok himself. Each 30mL bottle bears the count’s symbol and arrives in a black coffin-like box, adorned with fragrance notes and inspirations. The Heretic’s Nosferatu scent goes on sale on the brand’s website starting from October 31st.
