On Friday evening, Hugh Jackman commenced his concert sequence at Radio City Music Hall, delighting the audience with an unexpected visit from Ryan Reynolds and a medley of tracks defining his professional journey. The setlist included numerous tunes from “The Greatest Showman.
Reynolds, who acted alongside Jackman in the latest “Deadpool and Wolverine” production, had previously announced the series through a promotional video with Jackman. On Friday, he went even further by seizing the microphone during Jackman’s planned “Ask Me Anything” segment of the concert, beginning by joking, “I was led to believe this was going to be a comedic adaptation of ‘Les Misérables.’
He later praised Jackman for his kindness and politeness during their initial film collaboration, specifically in how he interacted with crew members on set. He even went so far as to call him “the finest person I have ever met.
16 or 17 years ago, I worked with this famous movie star for the first time on the film “ X-Men Origins: Wolverine“. At that point, I was still young and easily influenced. I didn’t know what to expect when I joined the set with him, but I had no idea what awaited me. “Do they first send you to rehab and then give you a drug problem in such a big movie?” I thought. But what I encountered was one of the best experiences anyone could have if you’re trying to make it in the industry. I saw a true movie star, someone who embodies the essence of capital M “Movie Star.” Yes, he used to be a movie star. Now he does a lot of singing and such.
At the fully booked performance, the crowd was already abuzz when Reynolds was spotted seated in the central orchestra section alongside Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine. A number of excited spectators even stood up to get a peek and requested selfies prior to the event’s start.
During Hugh Jackman’s performance at Radio City Music Hall, Ryan Reynolds mentioned that Jackman was the “initial A-list movie actor I collaborated with.

For the remainder of Jackman’s performance, tunes from The Greatest Showman took center stage with performances of “The Greatest Show,” “A Million Dreams,” “The Other Side,” “From Now On” and “Come Alive.” Backup singers, dancers, and a live band supported Jackman during these numbers. In true Jackman fashion, he also got in on the dancing and even joined a jump rope routine that he humorously suggested could have replaced Deadpool’s solo dance to *NSYNC in the opening of Deadpool & Wolverine, instead of Deadpool’s own performance.
Apart from his latest Broadway production, “The Music Man,” he also showcased pieces such as “Trouble,” “Stars,” and “Valjean’s Soliloquy” from “Les Misérables” (where he played Jean Valjean in the film version), and a medley of songs by Peter Allen from “The Boy From Oz,” which marked his first appearance on Broadway.
At one instance, Jackman put on a shimmering American flag vest and guided the audience in singing “Sweet Caroline.” He mentioned that this was a tribute to his upcoming movie, titled “Song Sung Blue“, where he portrays a Neil Diamond impersonator alongside Kate Hudson.
Initially, the series was planned as a 12-episode series, with approximately one event each weekend until August. However, it has now grown into a total of 24 performances, taking place over eight weekends, extending the schedule up to October.
Beyond my silver-screen exploits, I’ve also graced the stage frequently. For instance, I starred in a one-man show back in 2011, and I’ve had the privilege of hosting the Tony Awards on numerous occasions.
22 years back, I was the one who organized the Tonys right here, and it’s always been a wish of mine to take the stage here. Thanks for joining us tonight,” Jackman expressed at Radio City Music Hall.
