Scott Eastwood Has Thoughts on Directing Like Dad Clint

These days, the Eastwood family remains active in Hollywood, with Clint Eastwood’s latest movie, “Juror #2,” currently trending on Max as a streaming success. Remarkably, his daughter Francesca is a significant figure in this courtroom drama’s plot. Meanwhile, Scott Eastwood stars in the theater-released spy thriller “Alarum,” which also features Sylvester Stallone and Willa Fitzgerald (from “Strange Darling”). Recently, MovieWeb interviewed Scott during the promotional tour for “Alarum,” a conversation that followed our previous encounter at the “1992” press junket where he shared his thoughts on Clint’s future in filmmaking. As for Scott Eastwood, there’s speculation about whether this talented actor might one day venture behind the camera to direct his own movie.

Over time, I’ve gained enough experience to understand that working with skilled directors can lead to a back-and-forth, or a sort of hesitation. This happens because, to keep my career going, I sometimes need to collaborate with directors and producers who may not be as skilled as me. Eventually, I might think, “I can do this better than you.” So, I find myself at a point where I have to take on projects alone, but I must choose the right material carefully.

Scott Eastwood’s Take on Sly Stallone: “He Knows Who He Is”

During this period, one standout aspect of Scott’s latest action movie titled “Alarum” is the captivating chemistry between Scott and the consistently charming Sly Stallone. Their characters, armed with guns, embark on a perilous and dangerous mission filled with high stakes. It’s an exciting journey that keeps you guessing at various points. Similar to Clint Eastwood, Stallone is another actor who not only acts but also writes and directs. Speaking about Stallone, Scott mentioned: “What I learned most from him – which I believe was less about fanfare and more about his unique perspective on the material – and, like many others, I’ve been telling people… the reason the Tulsa King series is so good is because… he writes for the show and knows his own character so well.

As a cinephile, I’ve got a knack for understanding my own style and the tastes of the audience. I infuse my work with humor, making it endearing and enjoyable. It’s simply my nature. After all, I’m a renowned filmmaker, recognized for my unique storytelling approach.

Apart from sharing his thoughts, Scott expressed his fondness for some of Sylvester Stallone’s films throughout the years: “To be honest, I’ve always been a fan of movies like Rocky and Rambo. I enjoyed all the action films he made as well. Honestly, even movies like The Expendables and some of his more recent projects that bring together action stars really appeal to me. Frankly, I can’t get enough!”

In addition, Lionsgate’s upcoming film, Alarum, offers a unique brand of action that could captivate viewers. The movie is set to hit theaters, on demand, and digital platforms on January 17.
