‘Scream VII’ Lands February 2026 Release Date

As a seasoned gamer of horror movies and a die-hard fan of the Scream franchise, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement when hearing about Scream VII hitting theaters in 2026! Having grown up with Sidney Prescott and her harrowing experiences, it feels like coming home to an old friend who has managed to stay relevant and terrifying over the years.

Fans of the Scream series can breathe a sigh of relief, as the seventh film has been confirmed for release by Paramount Pictures.

Excitedly, I share the thrilling news straight from Neve Campbell and the mastermind himself, Kevin Williamson! They’ve confirmed that Scream VII will grace our movie theaters on February 27, 2026, through their latest social media posts. Can’t wait to scream again with Ghostface in two years!

Campbell came very close to saving the reborn franchise from ending permanently earlier in the year, by confirming her comeback to the Scream universe following a disagreement over pay with production company Spyglass that caused her absence in Scream VI.

In the reveal of this exciting news, Campbell shared that not only will she be rejoining the team, but the original franchise’s founder, Mr. Williamson, will be taking on the directorial role. Known for crafting the scripts for Wes Craven’s 1996 debut, as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4, Williamson is an integral part of this series. Meanwhile, Guy Busick, who wrote the latest Scream films in 2022 (Scream and Scream VI), will be handling the writing responsibilities, with James Vanderbilt stepping away to focus on directing the upcoming feature film Nuremberg instead.

After the dismissal of Melissa Barrera and the departure of Jenna Ortega last year, due to their social media posts during the Israel-Hamas conflict and Ortega’s exit several months prior, respectively, Scream 7 underwent a significant creative transformation. The original director, Christopher Landon, also chose to step away from the project following these changes.

As a gamer, I’ve got to admit, the comeback of Campbell felt like a breath of fresh air for the franchise. Ever since the first installment, Sidney Prescott’s character has been the beating heart of this series.

The filmmaking team Radio Silence successfully rejuvenated the horror franchise in 2022 with the release of Scream, starring Campbell. Fourteen months later, they unveiled Scream VI, shattering the series’ previous opening weekend record by earning $44.5 million and ultimately grossing a total of $166.3 million worldwide.

More to come.
