As a long-time wrestling enthusiast who has witnessed countless matches and fashion faux pas, I must say that Seth “Freakin” Rollins’ recent stunt on Monday Night Raw has to be one of my all-time favorites. The man has always been known for his daring moves in the ring, but this time he took it to a whole new level with his blue leather jacket debacle.
At its peak, professional wrestling thrives when it becomes utterly absurd, and WWE sensation Seth “Freakin” Rollins is no exception; he consistently performs jaw-dropping stunts within the ring and fashion statements that are equally daring outside of it. In the lead-up to his unsanctioned bout against Bronson Reed at this weekend’s Crown Jewel event, the previous Grand Slam Champion delivered an exceptional fashion moment, one that may not be surpassed at any forthcoming WWE events.
On October 28, 2024, during a two-hour episode of Monday Night Raw on a Monday, Rollins was delivering a speech in the ring when Reed interrupted him via the Titantron. Rollins then dashed backstage to confront Reed, but as he prepared for a fight by taking off his blue leather jacket, it turned out that there was another identical blue jacket hidden beneath it.
The Fightful Wrestling X account swiftly highlighted Rollins’ amusing fashion incident by likening it to the iconic Sting Mask meme, reminiscent of a time when the recently retired wrestling icon disguised himself as himself while facing the NWO in WCW’s peak period.
Removing his mask, Sting made an iconic visual statement that ultimately paved the way for Seth Rollins to later make his grand entrance.
Not just Fightful supported this extraordinary viral moment; wrestling enthusiasts worldwide swiftly expressed their admiration on social media platforms. One user, The House that Kami Built, even shared an eight-second snippet with the caption “I’M CRYING LMFAOOOOOOO,” which garnered a massive 523,000 likes.
A different user found themselves doubting their perception, as they wondered if they might be mistaken or hallucinating, given the unusual state of Rollins’ coat. Earlier, they had even asked if they were experiencing some sort of illusion.
On Raw, Seth Rollins didn’t just push the boundaries with bold fashion choices; he also delivered an exceptional Curb Stomp, arguably the best of 2024, against Bronson Reed in Hershey, Pennsylvania’s GIANT Center parking lot. Check out how devastating it was in this video from the WWE YouTube account:
Seth Rollins’ unauthorized bout against Bronson Reed is likely to be a standout match in the action-packed Crown Jewel event, which features Roman Reigns teaming up with The Usos to face off against Solo Sikoa’s powerful Bloodline group. This showdown also includes champion versus champion bouts for the debut WWE Crown Jewel Men’s and Women’s Championships, as well as other major clashes.
As WWE prepares to decide on Rollins’ future in the lead-up to WrestleMania 41 (about five months away), a clear win against Reed, or at least an impressive performance, could significantly boost one of the company’s most prominent stars from the last decade.
Without delay, those with a Peacock subscription can find out the exciting in-ring performances and bold fashion choices that the “Architect” has prepared for us, as Crown Jewel begins at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.
