As a fan who’s been through the emotional rollercoaster that is “Severance,” I can hardly contain my excitement for the show’s second season! The cliffhanger at the end of the first season left me hanging like a severed limb, and I’ve been eagerly waiting to find out what happens next.
The final episode of the first season of “Severance” ended mysteriously, implying that answers may be given when the show returns for its second run. However, based on a recently unveiled trailer at the CCXP24 event in São Paulo, it appears that the Apple TV+ series will only raise more questions.
In the trailer (take a look below), we find Mark (played by Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Irv (John Turturro), and Dylan (Zach Cherry) back at Lumon, where they’ve apparently become well-known advocates for “severance reform,” as Milchick (Tramell Tillman) puts it. Despite this, Mark remains discontented and is still digging for answers about the true nature of Lumon’s operations.
The trailer provides a clearer insight into the plot of season two compared to the atmospheric teaser released in October. Despite their uncertainty about what they experienced when their Innies emerged, the four refiners are eagerly seeking answers, particularly Mark, who is deeply invested due to his connection with his colleague and wife, Miss Casey/Gemma (Dichen Lachmann), in both the Outie and Innie worlds.
In season two, Apple portrays Mark and his companions discovering the grave repercussions of meddling with the boundary known as the severance, which takes them deeper into a trail of misery.
The second installment of “Severance” is scheduled to air on January 17, marking a 32-month gap since the conclusion of the first season in April 2022. Joining the returning cast members, which include Scott, Lower, Turturro, Cherry, and Tillman, are Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Christopher Walken, and Academy Award winners Patricia Arquette. For this season, we also welcome newcomers Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson to the cast.
I’m thrilled to share that I played a part in the creation of the captivating series “Severance,” while Ben Stiller, not just an actor but also a director for five episodes in season two, joined me as an executive producer. Alongside us, John Lesher, Jackie Cohn, Mark Friedman, Beau Willimon, Jordan Tappis, Sam Donovan, Caroline Baron, Richard Schwartz, Nicholas Weinstock, Scott, and Arquette also contributed to this masterpiece. The studio responsible for the fifth season is Fifth Season. Additionally, Uta Bresiewitz, Sam Donovan, and Jessica Lee Gagné directed various episodes in season two as well.
