As a long-time fan of Japanese cinema and a devoted viewer of both Godzilla and Evangelion, I am beyond excited about Netflix‘s announcement of The Bullet Train Explosion remake! Shinji Higuchi, with his exceptional work on Shin Godzilla and the Evangelion series, promises to deliver a visually stunning and suspenseful action thriller.
In a fresh video preview, Netflix unveils plans to create a brand-new adaptation of the pulse-pounding 1975 Japanese action thriller titled “The Bullet Train“.
Shinji Higuchi, famed for co-directing the 2016 movie “Shin Godzilla” with Hideaki Anno, will take the helm as director for this remake. Notably, Higuchi has been a storyboard artist for Anno since the debut of the original “Evangelion” anime, working on all subsequent animated feature films.
The upcoming movie, titled “Bullet Train Explosion,” will feature Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, a former Japanese actor and member of SMAP, as the main character. Similar to the original film, it promises to deliver a suspenseful plotline. Netflix has suggested that the remake will incorporate visual effects and special effects to enhance the train sequences, making them captivating. The movie is expected to hit Netflix screens in 2025. Until then, take a look at the teaser video available now.
